Chapter 147: Threat

The man was placed in the woodshed, and after a night, Jiang Ziyi, trapped inside, became somewhat mentally unstable.

As soon as the door opened, he woke up immediately, having been half asleep. Upon seeing the person in front of him, he unconsciously narrowed his eyes.

"What do you want to do?" Ji Meiqing asked, her voice hoarse. She squatted down in front of him and touched his forehead.

She frowned, her face grim. "Are you sick?"

Jiang Ziyi was in a daze and couldn't hear what she was saying at all. His mind was buzzing. Ji Meiqing looked him over for a long time before getting up and leaving.

She told Lu Yu about Jiang Ziyi's situation, then looked at him and, seeing that he didn't seem unhappy, went to call Granny Mei to invite the doctor.

With no one to make breakfast, the task naturally fell to her. While Lu Yu looked after Jiang Ziyi in the woodshed, she cooked the meal.

After Ji Meiqing finished, she realized that Ji Tianci had not yet come out of his room, so she hurriedly went to his room and pulled him out of bed.

Once everything was settled, Granny Mei hurried over with her people. Upon seeing her, she said to the doctor, "Quickly, take a look at our lady."

"It wasn't me," she denied softly, then added, "Could you please come with me for a moment?"

The doctor didn't delay and went straight to her side to go to the woodshed next door with her. Lu Yu was still inside, and when he saw Ji Meiqing come in, he immediately got up.

“It’s him.” She pointed directly at the bound man on the ground. “Check if he’s caught a cold.”

The doctor glanced at them suspiciously, then looked at the person lying on the ground, barely alive. This person didn't seem to have caught a cold; it looked more like someone who had been abused.

Ji Meiqing glared at him and roared, "What are you looking at? Hurry up and see a doctor!"

The doctor approached him in a panic, his hands, covered in spots, trembling as he examined the patient. Seeing this, Ji Meiqing withdrew her angry expression, looked at Lu Yu, and said calmly, "Let's go eat."

Lu Yu chuckled softly, earning him even more eye rolls.

She went to the kitchen, ladled out some plain porridge and vegetables, and brought it over. The other patients had all been seen, and Ji Meiqing went in. The porridge and vegetables were placed in front of him, and she looked at the doctor, asking, "How is he?"

"It's just a cold, some medicine will do the trick."

"How much? I'll pay you and you can send someone to deliver the medicine." She spoke with a decisive air, taking a silver ingot from her pocket and placing it in his hand.

“If you say more about this matter,” she paused, carefully observing the doctor’s expression. Seeing that he became nervous, she smiled and said, “It doesn’t matter if you say more. This person will be sent to the authorities sooner or later. Maybe you’ll see him in jail in a few days.”

The doctor visibly breathed a sigh of relief, then looked at the person on the ground, and, adhering to the principle of minding his own business, took the money and hurriedly left.

When only the two of them were left in the room, Ji Meiqing looked at Jiang Ziyi, who was still on the verge of death, and said coldly, "If you don't eat, you'll go hungry."

He then slowly brought the food over and ate it in small bites. Seeing that he was obedient, Ji Meiqing left.

Lu Yu was waiting for her outside. When she came out, he couldn't help but ask, "Have you come up with any ideas?"

"Not yet, but soon." She hesitated. "Actually, this can't really be considered fraud, since he paid money after all."

"But he used the Jiang family name to trade with us..."

She looked at the gray sky and sighed helplessly, "That's true."

The medicine was delivered, but Ji Meiqing was too lazy to serve it and simply handed the mess over to Granny Mei while she and Lu Yu taught Ji Tianci riding and archery.

The weather is just right, neither too sunny nor too cloudy, perfect for going out.

There happened to be a plain outside the city, and the three of them set off there. Ji Meiqing spread out the cloth bag she had brought on the ground, ready for a picnic.

They had no idea what she was going to do. Ji Meiqing lay down on it, with a large pile of food next to her, which looked quite plentiful.

Looking up at the sky, she suddenly felt a sense of vastness. In the distance, Lu Yu was patiently teaching Ji Tianci how to ride and shoot, while she comfortably closed her eyes, her mind gradually becoming sleepy.

Suddenly, she jolted awake from her dream. Her face was splashed with icy water; she woke up like that, staring at the sky with her eyes open.

The rain pattered down, and they were running towards them in the distance. Hongzao followed behind them, deliberately slowing down.

Once they arrived, Ji Meiqing calmly got up, tidied up the things on the ground, and placed them on the horse's back.

"Are you alright?" Lu Yu asked her worriedly, unable to resist reaching out to touch her forehead. She didn't resist and let him do so.

Her forehead was fine, but he was worried that the cold air might cause her to catch a cold.

He hurriedly took off his outer robe and draped it over her head. Ji Meiqing wanted to refuse, but he stubbornly interrupted her.

"Don't move," he whispered in her ear, then lifted her onto the back of the horse carrying the red date. The two, one big and one small, led the horse ahead.

Because of the rain, his figure was clearly outlined, with well-defined muscle lines, broad shoulders and narrow hips, making him look quite pleasing to the eye.

Ji Meiqing withdrew her gaze and became serious.

The three of them finally returned to the house. She instructed Granny Mei to boil water for Ji Tianci, and they went back to their room and changed their clothes behind a screen.

Her hair had turned into frizzy, oily strands, still dripping wet. Ji Meiqing couldn't help but wrap her hair completely in a towel before starting to take off her clothes.

She had only taken her clothes, forgetting to take her undergarment. She hadn't dried herself off, and her new, clean clothes were a bit far away. Annoyed, she could only take the towel off her head and wrap it around herself.

Although she is already sixteen or seventeen years old, she has everything she should have, and her height is steadily around 1.65 meters.

Nanjing is located just below the groin and above the knee.

She walked past expressionlessly, seemingly oblivious. She went straight for the wardrobe, and when Lu Yu saw her, a flash of amazement crossed his eyes.

He unconsciously looked away and turned his back.

The two were quite embarrassed. She crumpled her bodice into a ball, held it in her hand, and quickly ran back behind the screen.

After getting dressed, she came out and felt slightly awkward when she saw Lu Yu.

He seemed to have forgotten about it, looking at the hair on her head, and said softly, "Let me dry your hair for you."

She didn't object, looked around at him, and asked, "Where should I sit?"

"Lie down on the bed, rest your head on my lap." Lu Yu pointed to the bed, and Ji Meiqing walked over and lay down with her feet facing inward and her head facing outward. Lu Yu followed her over.
