Chapter 336: Internal Fighting.
Chapter 336: Internal Fighting.
Valerian’s cruelty shocked the people, and Haista said, "Enough. Do not stain the dignity of the Knighthood."
The young man smacked the lady unconscious and said, "I apologize for my conduct, Commander. However, I cannot bring myself to be gentle and forgiving with this sort of person. If you can maintain your calm and generosity, you have long left your humanity behind."
The knights gathered did not expect Valerian to go full ballistic on the Commander. Haista raised his head and glared at the young man as he said, "What do you know about me to say such a thing? How many lives have you saved to stand before me and run your mouth like this?"
Valerian chuckled and said, "I did not realize we were competing here."
The knights were initially confused but did not expect the wise commander to stoop down to Valerian’s level and even argue back. Haista said, "This is not about competition but about the dignity of your superior. I can stow you away in a solitary cell for reform."
Valerian shook his head and said, "You think pulling ranks with me will do you any good?"
The old man was stunned, and he began to look around. Frustratedly, he said, "Calor, you better tell him to shut up."
Calor reacted and said, "Valerian, do you know what you have been talking about?"
Valerian nodded and said, "I am not keen on doing things I am not confident about."
Calor walked up to the young man and placed his hand on the latter’s shoulder as he said, "What is it that pricked your nerves?"
Valerian smiled and said, "Sir, Calor, shall I tell you what it is, or will you and Commander come clean about the issue?"
Calor was surprised, and Valerian looked at Haista before saying, "Since you two are silent, then I shall do the honors."
Calor shook his head, and so did Haista. The young man sighed and asked, "Brothers and Sisters of the Knighthood. Is it just me, or did you not find the Commander Disposing of the two hounds from earlier?"
The people were stunned. Indeed, none noticed that the two hounds imprisoned here earlier were relatively silent today. One of the knights standing close to the two holding cells waved the torch in his hand, and his mouth opened wide. The Knight said, "The cells are empty. Where did they go?"
The sentence was like a bomb that deafened everyone from the impact. Valerian clapped his hand, gathered the people’s attention over himself again, and said, "The only person who can make a prisoner vanish is an insider. Either they killed the person or aided them in fleeing the prison. So, who can tell me what this is all about?"
The Knights were all playing, ’You look at me, I look at you.’ Haista said, "Are you alleging that one of the Knights had betrayed the order?"
Valerian nodded with a smile and said, "You are almost correct. Let me correct you. I am saying it was an insider’s doing. It could be one, or it could be two, or even more. For all I care, all of you are the same. Today is my first time setting foot in this place. Not only do I have to deal with two intruders coming over quickly, but I also have to find a traitor and locate two dangerous enemies. So, I am not saying anything without sufficient grounds to hold it."
Haista sneered and said, "You sure have a lot of things to say, don’t you? Is it because your father was Divinus Magnus you think you can do what you want? That your grandmother is the Saintess that she will protect you?"
This was a bomb to the people. They did not know that Divinus was the son of the Saintess. Valerian smiled and said, "I am glad that you mentioned this. However, putting my attitude aside. Can you give one justification for the current situation? You knew about the boundary being invaded, yet you waited for me to notify you before you could tell everyone what was going on. The two hounds under your supervision are missing, and when I tried to make this bitch suffer some pain, you came to preach to me the code of mercy.
If I didn’t know better, I would have thought you were an undercover hound working for the greatest enemy of nature and balance."
A hundred sets of gazes were locked onto Haista, and he could not help but have a surprised expression. Valerian just laid down dirt, and he laid it thick. Calor saw that the situation was not optimistic and said, "All this can be dealt with later. First, we have to face the intruders."
Valerian shook his head and said, "I would rather flee the place than fight with people I do not trust."
His words were so toxic that many Knights nodded and began whispering among each other. Knight Mahiyan sighed and said, "As much as it pains me, I cannot help but support Valerian in this situation. I will not fight with my back exposed to someone I cannot trust."
Valerian cast him a glance and nodded. The Knights heard that Mahiyan was in doubt, and their loyalty began to sway. At this moment, Calor sighed in frustration and said, "So what do you want us to say? We were responsible for the two people fleeing and the two witches invading."
The people raised their brows, and Valerian did not say and snapped his finger. The floor beneath the feet of the two people moved, and they were encased in a binding spell. Valerian’s action surprised the people, but before they could question his actions, Valerian said, "How are you so sure that the enemy is the witches? Why do you say that we are responsible for the escape of two people?"
Calor was at a loss, and Haista yelled, "Fool!"
The next moment, Valerian cast a paralyzing vine spell, and Haista was restrained. Valerian said, "This much is my patience. If there is another accomplice present among us, please step out. Or ensure you are not caught, or I will directly flay you alive."
His words were cold, and Mahiyan asked, "Why did you do it?"
Haista could not say anything, and Calor was too dumb to come up with anything. The pig teammate was how Valerian was able to find out the reaction. Valerian did not wait for Mahiyan to ask repeatedly, as he said, "This can be discussed later. Right now, we need to fight some people."
Mahiyan nodded and said, "Leave two people behind and gather everyone to form a parameter around the fort."
Valerian shook his head and took out a pendant from his magic pouch. He condensed the battle aura over his palms and ground the pendant into fine powder. The young man then shoved a pinch of this powder in Calor’s mouth and did the same to Haista. He checked the lady and said, "Hmmm, I should just kill you off, but seeing your allies kneel to save you will be fun."
He stored the powder in a small jade bottle and dragged the witch out of the holding area. Haista asked, "What did you feed me?"
Valerian smiled and said, "Nothing, just a pinch of ancient pine tree bark powder if you tried to use mana or battle aura. You will explode like a balloon and decorate the area’s walls for decades."
Mahiyan and the rest were surprised as they all moved behind Valerian. The young man met Olivis in the main hall and said, "Valerie is sleeping. Guard her. Take her to the dryad realm if needed, but if they did anything to her there. You know I have the capital to lay waste to the entire realm."
Olivis nodded and said, "Rest assured, she will not suffer."
Valerian nodded and walked out with the people. He looked around and found that the building was a tower. This entire place was made like a pillar. The young man sighed and said, "The architect doomed us to die with such a vulnerable design."
Mahiyan nodded, and Valerian said, "Do we have earth mages?"
The former nodded, and Valerian said, "Have them cast wall spells and raise a defensive parameter here. This will leave us some ground to treat the wounded and hold meetings."
Mahiyan asked, "Do we need to deal cautiously with just two enemies?"
Valerian sighed and said, "Is it just me, or do you not notice the birds fleeing the place?"
The Knights looked up and found that the forest around the tower was full of movement. Mahiyan looked around and found that everyone was flustered and Valerian said, "Calm down."
His loud voice echoed in the ears of the knights and Valerian said, "I will take the lead. You all can rely on me. Okay?"
Mahiyan sensed that the people were full of doubt, but the next moment, all their doubts were erased. Valerian stood on his spot and cast a great spell that changed the topography around the tower, and shocked the people completely.
