Chapter 531 [Empire] Stillness

Chapter 531 [Empire] Stillness

The dark red light pulsed more and more noticeably, like some corrupted organism rapidly regaining its form. Its light was faint, yet it gave off a strange, oppressive feeling, as if some forbidden power was gradually awakening.

"What is that?" I whispered, unable to take my eyes off the ball of light.

Qianmo's brow furrowed slightly, clearly sensing something unusual. He quickly scanned his surroundings, as if trying to determine the source and nature of the energy fluctuations. "We can't let our guard down yet."

The weapon in my hand has once again gathered energy. My intuition tells me that this is not over yet. The explosion just now seems to be just a harbinger of it - the beginning of a vicious cycle.

However, the dark red dot of light did not continue to expand. Its pulsation seemed to have a rhythm, like breathing, like the beating of a heart. Suddenly, it erupted with a fierce burst of light, and the entire space was once again enveloped in a blinding crimson glow.

"Retreat quickly!" Qianmo shouted loudly, and almost at the same time, his vines expanded rapidly, surrounding us.

At that moment, I felt a strong attraction coming from the red light, as if some invisible force was pulling us towards it. The storm and light and shadow around me were in chaos, and space began to distort, as if time itself had slowed down.

I flung my weapon away and retreated, but the world around me seemed to be redefined by this force. The vines stretched faster and faster, attempting to shield us from the light, but they were gradually suppressed by the violent energy fluctuations.

"This is..." I frowned, and an unprecedented fear rose in my heart.

Qianmo's voice was low and tinged with shock. "It's not just a body of energy. It's been imbued with spirituality by some unfathomable force." He looked at me, a hint of alarm in his eyes. "That red dot of light might be its core, or perhaps its teleportation point."

"Teleportation point?" I was a little confused and my heart was beating faster.

"This power is parasitic." Qianmo's words made my heart tighten. "It can absorb and integrate external energy, and then evolve itself. If we don't stop it, it will revive in a short time in some unforeseen way."

Before I could finish my words, the red dot of light suddenly split apart from the center, releasing a massive energy shockwave that sent everything around it flying. My vision was obscured by a burst of bright light, and I immediately lost consciousness.

When I opened my eyes again, I found myself in an unfamiliar place.

This was... an empty space, surrounded by countless distorted energy waves, as if entering a dimensional rift. There was no light source on the ceiling, only the dark red core slowly suspended in the air, emitting a heart-pounding light.

Qianmo was also not far away. He had a solemn expression on his face, as if his ability to move was suppressed by this energy.

I struggled to stand up, feeling heavy, as if the world were sinking, and the air around me was thin and sticky. "What's going on?" I whispered.

Qianmo struggled to support himself and glanced back at me: "We've been sucked into its spatial distortion. It's trapping us here."

I gripped my weapon tightly, my heartbeat accelerating. "What should I do?"

"It's absorbing all external energy." Qianmo explained, panting. "Our weapons and abilities are useless against it. We must find its source and its weakness."

"So what should we do now?" I suppressed my anxiety and looked around. "This place is so weird."

Qianmo's gaze was deep and calm. "We don't have much time." He held out his hand, and the vines began to grow again, but this time, they seemed to be suppressed and moved slowly. "We must find the exit quickly and eliminate its core."

As soon as he finished speaking, the red light suddenly vibrated violently, as if responding to his challenge. Then, it released an indescribable shock wave that struck the air around us, causing the entire space to violently shift once again.

"Retreat!" Qianmo suddenly grabbed me and retreated quickly.

Without hesitation, I followed closely behind. But just as I took my first step, a sudden wave of dizziness overwhelmed me. I barely managed to hold on, and the scene before me began to distort. The red light expanded again, like a giant vortex, sucking everything in.

"Qianmo!" My voice was filled with urgency.

"Hurry! Follow me!" Qianmo ordered loudly.

Under his guidance, we continued to traverse the twisting space, approaching the source of the red light. Each step felt like stepping on duckweed on the water, unstable and shaky. And the pull of that core grew stronger and stronger.

When he was less than ten meters away from the core, Qianmo suddenly stopped with a very serious expression.

"That's the root of it," he whispered.

I looked at him, my heart beating violently, "What happened?"

Qianmo didn't answer. Instead, he pulled out a strange crystal from his side. The crystal was transparent, yet it shone with a deep blue light. The aura it exuded instantly alerted me.

“This is—” I froze, “This is something I’ve seen before…”

"Yes," Qianmo said softly, "This is its natural enemy - the Deep Sea Origin Crystal."

He clenched the crystal in his hand and threw it towards the red light.

In an instant, the oppressive feeling in the space suddenly intensified, and the red light began to tremble violently, as if sensing some kind of threat. At this moment, the surrounding energy began to violently distort, and the edge of the entire world began to collapse.

"Leave!" Qianmo growled.

A huge suction force hit me, and I was almost pulled into the center of the vortex. At this critical moment, I tightly grasped Qianmo's hand, and an inexplicable determination rose in my heart - no matter what, we cannot be swallowed by this place.

At the moment the crystal collided with the red light spot, a violent explosion and light engulfed all vision.

Everything, still.
