Chapter 180: On the Right Track
The pattern had been given, and all that was left was to wait. The tailor didn't keep him waiting too long before delivering the clothes.
Ji Meiqing looked at the clothes in her hand, which were exactly the same as those drawn on the blueprint, and they were already finished.
Lu Yu, standing to the side, looked at the clothes with some curiosity. The style was unfamiliar to him; the sleeves and trouser legs were narrow, making them appear quite small.
Ji Meiqing found the design rather monotonous. The uniform gray-white color, devoid of any patterns or designs, made it seem almost like something for a funeral.
The servant who delivered the sample garment was still standing there when Ji Meiqing walked over directly to him. "Please take this garment back and have the tailor alter it. The fabric isn't quite right, and the color isn't very good either."
"Any other requirements regarding the color?"
"Embroider auspicious patterns on the collar of my clothes, and then change the color of the clothes. It's too depressing."
She stated her thoughts directly, then looked at the servant, who was also examining her injured clothes, and said, "You'd better hurry up, I want you to mass-produce it after the sample is finished."
"Yes, yes." The servant immediately took the clothes and left. Ji Meiqing sighed slightly and returned to Lu Yu's side.
Several days later, the clothes were finally delivered. Ji Meiqing had them change into the same uniform. The uniform was predominantly black, with their shop's emblem embroidered on the collar, making them look much more imposing.
A line of men in black roamed around inside, which was rather intimidating.
On one hand, it's for aesthetics, and on the other hand, it's for intimidation. Her restaurant can't be the same as others, so the only improvements she can make are probably in the details.
After changing into these clothes, my whole demeanor changed, and there were fewer arguments in the restaurant. People also paid their bills obediently.
This pleased Ji Meiqing. They obediently paid the money, which saved her the trouble of finding someone else to act as a guard.
However, while she was pleased with herself, she was also disappointed. As soon as Ji Meiqing arrived at the winery, she saw the old man and the scholar sitting together, which was quite a strange sight.
She walked over slowly and patted him on the shoulder. "What's wrong?"
He spread out the blueprints, "I can't do this right no matter what, and I can't do it right for you either..."
Ji Meiqing was somewhat surprised. After taking the blueprint and looking it over, she asked, "What don't you understand?"
He pointed to a seam above, his head bowed low.
After Ji Meiqing read it once, she explained it to him again. However, he still seemed confused and didn't understand what was written inside.
"You can disassemble this part and then reassemble it. You can have the craftsman make a few smaller gears. As for the other parts, you can ask me if you don't understand anything."
"I understand..." The scholar took the blueprint and looked at it excitedly again, but it was unclear what he didn't understand. Ji Meiqing sighed and looked at the old man next to her who was dead drunk. He was quite carefree.
Going further in, it was a warm and cozy place.
The men inside were all shirtless, sweating profusely. A strange smell filled the air, but her appearance didn't attract any attention.
After looking around, he came out again. Once things were settled on this side, there were other things to do.
However, as is often the case, without innovation, even a large customer base will gradually disappear. The business in the restaurant gradually improved, but if it weren't for the stimulation of production growth from the brothel and the Jiang family, he wouldn't have been able to create a miracle in such a short time.
Thinking this, she looked out the window again. She had been out for a while, and seeing people coming and going in the restaurant, business seemed pretty good.
Having achieved this much, she no longer asks for anything more.
I got up, tidied myself up a bit, and then left.
Back home, everyone went about their own business, looking quite relaxed.
"Brother Lu?"
She called out and searched both inside and outside the house but couldn't find him. Although she didn't find Lu Yu, she did disturb Granny Mei next door, who came out of her room upon hearing the noise.
"What's going on here?"
"Where is Lu Yu?" she asked directly.
Grandma Mei thought for a moment, then said somewhat uncertainly, "Shouldn't we go for a drink?"
"Oh, thank you." She frowned, seemingly a little annoyed.
However, he didn't show it in front of her.
Finding a place to drink wasn't hard; there was a peach orchard behind the house outside the city, where she used to often lie down and drink. She figured it would be there again, so she headed there.
It was only a few miles outside the city, not far at all. She slowly walked over, looking at the courtyard with its gate tightly closed, and then at her surroundings.
The peach blossoms had long since faded, the branches had withered, leaving only bare trunks. Ji Meiqing walked over and slowly searched among them.
The dry branches crunched underfoot, but he was nowhere to be found in the yard. Dark shadows occasionally hovered overhead, creating a somewhat eerie atmosphere.
"Brother Lu!" she called out, but there was no response from anyone in the empty woods.
The low branches stirred, and as soon as she turned around, a slender figure approached her.
"Hmm... Brother Lu?" Ji Meiqing looked at the person in front of her in surprise, the faint scent of wine still lingering in her nostrils.
He stared intently ahead, one hand holding the wine and the other around her waist. Ji Meiqing instinctively wrapped her arms around his waist, not daring to make any rash moves.
What are you doing here?
Lu Yu didn't answer. Instead, he used the momentum to leap up from one of the stone slabs. Ji Meiqing watched in a daze as the scene flashed by.
“Brother Lu…” She calmed down and waited quietly for him to land.
Unexpectedly, they traversed half of the jungle. He stopped on a mountain path and then put Ji Meiqing down.
"Are you alright?" She had just asked when she saw Lu Yu walking straight ahead. Ji Meiqing quickly followed.
Having finally caught up, he froze before he could even finish a sentence. Standing on the cliff with Lu Yu, gazing at the vast expanse of sky and earth, he was momentarily stunned.
"Is it pretty?" Lu Yu suddenly asked her.
Ji Meiqing murmured, "Beautiful..." She took two steps forward, then stopped. There were still two steps to the cliff.
Lu Yu found a place to sit down and then carefully put down the wine jar he was holding.
"Whenever I'm unhappy, I come here, look at the vastness of the world, and suddenly I feel that nothing in this world matters."
"Really?" She sat down as well, propping her chin up and staring blankly at the person in front of her. "Were you waiting for me over there the whole time?"
"Just seeing you come over..." He didn't finish his sentence, but Ji Meiqing understood perfectly. She picked up the wine beside him and downed it in one gulp.
