Chapter 170: Kidnapped

Chapter 170: Kidnapped

Chapter 170: Kidnapped

"In...in the mountains and forests on the outskirts of the city."

"There are so many bandits there, Miss Ji probably won't be able to come back. Madam, you should stop meddling in such matters. After all, Miss Ji is no longer a member of the Ji family. Besides, if Miss Ji is really kidnapped, the best thing to do is to endure it. Who knows if she is still innocent?"

The servant said a few words out of turn, which earned him a glare from the scholar. "How can you be so heartless, servant? Your master is in trouble and you're still making sarcastic remarks."

"She's not a member of the Ji family." The servant rolled his eyes at him, looking at him as if he were an idiot.

The scholar was speechless for a moment, not knowing what to say.

Rouge thought for a moment, then slowly asked, "Where is Lu Yu? Where is he?"

"do not know."

"Go find Lu Yu, I can't help you with this." She turned and walked inside, and the scholar watched in surprise as he went back.

The servant gave her one last disdainful look before slowly returning to his seat.

The scholar was somewhat dejected, but when he thought of Ji Meiqing, who had gotten into trouble because of him, he felt a pang of sadness.

"Please tell the others in the manor that you must save Miss Ji."

"Save her? How can we save her?" The two servants shook their heads helplessly. "It's not that we don't want to go in and inform her, but this Miss Ji has already displeased our master. Besides, the Ji family is currently in the spotlight, so who cares about her? No one can save someone who is unloved by her father and mother."

Hearing him say this, the scholar felt a pang of sadness in his heart, as if something was blocking his throat. Yet, he was still unwilling to accept it. "She was a member of the Ji family. She was a human life."

"So what if it's a human life? Our Madam was recently imprisoned because of her, and she hasn't come out yet."

"Then can you tell me who I should ask for help now?"

"Where is Miss Ji's husband? You can go find him."

"It's over in the south of the city, you can go and take a look," someone nearby said kindly.

"Thank you."

There wasn't just one bandit den in the mountains; there were as many bandit dens as there were hills. They were lucky enough to only encounter one, but Ji Meiqing wasn't so fortunate.

She had just been tied up and brought back to the mountain when a group of bandits came, which was probably a common occurrence. She was thrown into the woodshed and locked up, and could only hear bits and pieces of what was happening outside.

Shadows often flitted about in the windows on the wall, flashing by as if fleeing for their lives.

She peered inside, but due to her height, she could only hop around and get a limited view. Ji Meiqing searched the woodshed but couldn't find anything sharp that could untie the ropes binding her hands.

Even the walls were perfectly smooth, which made Ji Meiqing feel somewhat hopeless. She couldn't untangle the rope binding her hands, nor could she find any other tools.

Now, we either wait for the people outside to finish their fight and discover us, or we make a commotion ourselves to get their attention. The former is passive, the latter is active.

She decided to take a gamble. She walked to the door, took a deep breath, and kicked the wooden door hard. Due to inertia, her calf went numb from the bottom up, and she fell backward.

Ji Meiqing looked at the door, then struggled to get up and continued kicking it. After kicking it twice, she finally attracted the attention of those around her.

The chains on the door had been cut off, and several burly figures blocked the doorway, obscuring the light and making it impossible to see their faces.

Ji Meiqing lay on the ground with her hands tied behind her back, her eyes narrowing as she squinted, only able to see a cloud of black mist.

"There's a young woman here too, probably kidnapped by that old bastard from Black Mountain." The person on the far side squeezed over, walked up to her, pinched her face, and examined her closely.

Seeing that she was quite pretty, he turned around and said to the man in the middle who hadn't spoken yet, "This little wench is not bad looking either. Why don't we grab her and let us brothers have a taste?"

"Hmm." He nodded, then turned and left. Two more people came, grabbed her, and took her away from there.

Chaos reigned outside. She was draped in black cloth and carried along. She didn't know what was happening along the way, but then things gradually quieted down.

Ji Meiqing felt something was wrong. The next second, she was thrown to the ground. The black cloth on her head was removed, and the sudden bright light was a bit dazzling.

"What are you going to do?" she asked after she had calmed down. The area was surrounded by woods, and the winter temperature was always very low, seemingly chilling to the bone.

He struggled for a moment, the rough rope chafing his wrist until it turned red, and he could feel the bone-chilling coldness at his fingertips.

"Young lady, you're quite pretty. If you serve us well, you'll live a life of luxury from now on."

"Is that so? It's a pity I'm not fortunate enough to enjoy it." Ji Meiqing stared intently at them, afraid that if they pounced on her, she would probably be finished.

As they slowly approached, Ji Meiqing's heart clenched tighter and tighter. She stared at them as they grinned wickedly as they drew near.

Just as they were about to get close, a bluish shadow swept past them, and when they looked again, the person in front of them had disappeared.

They looked around and then shouted a few times. But no one answered.

Ji Meiqing stared blankly at the person holding her for a moment. It wasn't until they stopped on a tree that he untied the ropes binding his hands and carefully examined the wound on her wrist, his expression gradually becoming serious.

"They hurt you." His words were filled with an undisguised murderous intent, and Ji Meiqing was somewhat stunned as she looked at him.

Lu Yu looked at her, worried that she might have other wounds, and almost took off her clothes to check.

Ji Meiqing grabbed his hand and said blankly, "Why did you come here?"

“I couldn’t find you when I went back,” Lu Yu said. “I guessed you were here, so I came looking for you. I just didn’t expect…”

"I'm fine." She shook her head, but her hand kept clutching his collar, as if she was a little scared.

Lu Yu removed her hand, letting her stay properly on the branch. He climbed down alone and stopped directly in front of the two of them.

They were stunned by the sudden appearance of the person. "Who are you! How dare you block our way?"

"I wouldn't dare. I'm just here to send you two to the underworld." He stretched out his hand, his claws aimed straight at them. Perhaps because of the low temperature, his hand looked somewhat grayish-white, not as rosy as usual.

Lu Yu seemed oblivious, tightening his grip on their necks before they could even resist and were thrown to the side. Ji Meiqing gasped at the sight.

He flew up and caught her. Then he asked, "Has anyone else hurt you?"
