Chapter 372: Flame Seprent.
Chapter 372: Flame Seprent.
Valerian looked at a gigantic snake on the ceiling. The snake’s head was buried under its coils. It had red scales covering its length. Valerian said, "Do you know the weak spots?"
Before Shiba could reply, the middle-aged man from the Avion party said, "Of course, she knows. She has been studying the other parties doing it for a year."
Valerian turned around and said, "Sir, did you also come to fight the floor, boss?"
The middle-aged man nodded and said, "Yes, this floor boss is our training partner. But since you came here first, you can take your shot. If it is too much, my party will help you."
Valerian nodded and said, "Since that is the case, does it mean you will not interfere in our business until we ask for it?"
The middle-aged man nodded, and Valerian said, "Then can you be kind not to disturb us?"
His words directly made the middle-aged man fall silent. Viney stifled a laugh, and Valerian said, "Shiba, let me test the waters?"
Shiba opened her eyes wide, but knowing this guy’s skills, she nodded and signaled Viney. The lady knocked an arrow on her bow and sent it flying to the snake. The arrow hit the beast, and the snake began to slither.
Valerian took a short sword from his bag and placed it on the side as he said, "Viney, toss me the weapons if I ask you."
The girl nodded, and the next moment, the giant snake descended to the ground. It slithered into the center of the vast room. This place was as big as a small town. Shiba said, "We will charge on your command."
Valerian nodded and rushed in as soon as he crossed the threshold that marked the central area of the place. The snake detected his presence, and it attacked. The beast’s attack was similar to a snake going after prey. Quick, decisive, and perfect. However, Valerian was not in the mood to become a meal, and he changed his path in a quick motion.
The middle-aged deputy of the Avion Party was shocked to see that Valerian could stay calm in this situation and even move as he wished. This was not how a rookie should be great in the face of a thirty feet long snake.
Valerian shifted in a blink, and the snake could not move that quickly. The bigger size increased the weight and momentum, and changing direction in the middle of an attack was difficult for the beast.
Valerian did not give any shit about this guy, and he had enough experience dealing with big-sized beasts. However, this did not mean that the enemy had no other way. The snake opened its mouth and sprayed flames around.
The young man jumped high to avoid the flames. The flames seemed made of water, spreading around where they fell. Valerian noticed this and moved closer to the body of the beast. He did not even try to attack the beast because the scales were strong. Valerian was looking for something.
He dodged the attacks and said, "Viney, aim at the snout, and Shiba, help me look for its tail! Quickly!"
The team had developed a good tactic understanding, and Valerian was very clear in his instructions. Viney fired consecutive arrows at the beast’s snout, attracting its attention. At the same time, Shiba and Captain moved together to locate the tail. Valerian also moved while avoiding the flames. This beast was not easy to deal with. It was slithering all over the place and too big.
The body of the beast was simply a weapon of destruction. The snake’s spine had long spikes protruding outwards, and the beast would roll and push away the trio. After half an hour, Valerian closed in on the tail, and his short sword dug under a scale. The impact of the attack made the beast hiss.
The snake raised its head and opened its wings. The pain enraged it, and the beast turned to look at the tail before it took a dive head first.
Valerian was quick and retreated while saying, "Shiba, pass attack."
Shiba replied, "Okay!"
Pass attack was a tactic they developed to face beasts like this together, and they would attack one after the other. This way, the enemy will not get to focus on one of them. This tactic worked with the Minotaurs and other creatures with brute physical force. One will retreat after a quick attack, and while the enemy is chasing after them, another person will take up the task.
This snake was the same, it was big, and it was brutally strong. The landscape of the room was constantly changing from the attacks. Five minutes of this hide-and-seek made the beast go mad from rage. The orange eyes of the snake turned red, and it sprayed fire all over the place.
Shiba and Captain retreated while Valerian charged up the tail. Yes, the young man ran along the spine of the angry serpent. Just when the beast sprayed all these flames, Valerian noticed a spot on the snake’s forehead darker than the rest of its body.
He did not stop and managed a proper grip on the frail body by holding onto the spikes along the spine. Avion Party leader commented, "Call him back. Does he want to die?"
Viney glared at him and said, "Shut up, you bad omen."
Valerian had climbed on the beast’s snout and was holding onto a scale. The snake seemed to have frozen in the spot. The young man smiled and said, "Gotcha."
Then, the young man yanked the scale with all his strength and said, "Viney! Give me an arrow."
Viney concentrated and shot an arrow right above his head. Valerian caught the arrow in his hand, and the next moment, he stabbed it on the spot he removed the scale from. The snake squirmed and hissed loudly.
However, Valerian did not let go and shoved the arrow deeper, and the beast gradually began to lose energy as it fell back to the ground. The red eyes slowly lost the glimmer of life, and Valerian sat down on his butt.
The next moment, on the other corner of the room, a door illuminated. Shiba shivered and asked, "We did it?"
Captain also froze, and Viney was on her knees. She was tearing up. Valerian was breathing raggedly and said, "Finally, it is done."
That said, he stood up, holding the reverse scale that shrunk down to what he could hold in his palm with ease. The serpent under his feet vanished, and the young man asked, "Should we go ahead, or do we need to register at the guild first?"
Shiba nodded and said, "That door will lead us outside the dungeon; next time, we will get to the eleventh floor."
Valerian nodded, and then the group left for the door. Avion Party was still watching the serpent’s body turn into golden particles in a daze. One of the people said, "That boy did it all that."
They were in awe over how Valerian moved and attacked the serpent with his team—this strategy they did not understand. The middle-aged man said, "Let’s go back. We will come back tomorrow."
...
Valerian and his team exited the dungeon and headed straight to the guild building. They did not know how many days they had spent inside, but it should not be that long either. When they came to the guild building, they found three days had been spent inside the dungeon.
Prim looked at them and asked, "Did you all manage to reach the gates of the Floor Boss room?"
The three people nodded in a daze. Prim nodded and wrote it down in the report on her desk. She asked, "Any injuries?"
The team again shook their heads, and Prim continued. She asked, "Did you slay the Floor boss?"
A few people gazed at them, and Valerian placed the scale on the table of the guild Manager and said, "This should be enough to prove that the beast died?"
Prim accepted the scale and began to inspect this tiny scale completely. After she was done, she said, "You all did a good job."
At this moment, Shiba cried. Tears fell from her eyes, and she looked around when she spotted Valerian with his back on the counter. Shiba walked up to him and took him in her embrace.
Valerian was suddenly feeling awkward, but then he calmed down and said, "Thank you for your trust and support."
Shiba shook her head, and Viney also joined the two in crying. Valerian shook his head at the situation. These people were a bunch of softies. After they calmed down, Prim said, "You can keep this scale. This scale can save your life when you are in danger."
Valerian nodded and accepted the scale. He then turned around to find that many Dungeoneers had come to congratulate them. Valerian was a lukewarm glass of water. He greeted them all with a smile.
