Chapter 1054 - 1053: Everyone Is Like This
Chapter 1054 - 1053: Everyone Is Like This
Leaving behind some money as compensation, Chu Ge changed into the clothes of a taxi driver and removed some of the traces he left in the car. Then, he took Su Yuanke and left the taxi, which could no longer be driven, and threw his previously bloodstained clothes into the burning wreckage of a Grand Cherokee.Although Su Yuanke had a headache and backache and this place was quite far from Gui City Cemetery, he had just witnessed Chu Ge's terrifying actions firsthand. This time, he didn't say a word and quite straightforwardly followed Chu Ge, seemingly surrendering to fate. However, with every step he took, his back ached a little, making his gait somewhat awkward.
"Backache?" Chu Ge walked a few steps, then turned to look at Su Yuanke.
Suddenly hearing Chu Ge's voice startled Su Yuanke, and it took him a couple of seconds to nod.
Chu Ge raised his hand and tapped on Su Yuanke's back. "Does this hurt?"
Su Yuanke was already very tense, and when Chu Ge's fist landed on his back, even though Chu Ge didn't use much force, he immediately became even more nervous, his every muscle tensing up.
"I'm asking you, does it hurt?"
"No, it doesn't hurt."
Chu Ge tapped in a different spot, "What about here?"
"Seems like a little."
Chu Ge tapped a couple more times in another place, and before he could speak, Su Yuanke sucked in a cold breath and lurched forward a couple of steps, holding the place where Chu Ge's fist had just landed.
"Hiss... it hurts, hurts, hurts."
"It's not a big deal; let me massage it for you." Chu Ge caught up with Su Yuanke's steps and placed his hand on a part of his spine. "But... can you relax a bit? If I really wanted to do something to you, from the moment I met you until now, I've had enough chances to kill you a hundred times."
Su Yuanke didn't respond. He had no doubt about this; he just couldn't completely let go of his guard against Chu Ge. Just because Chu Ge hadn't done anything to him yet doesn't mean he wouldn't in the future.
After all, Chu Ge still had questions he wanted him to answer, which meant that, for now, he still held some value to Chu Ge. But what if that value was gone?
However... Chu Ge's massage technique was quite amazing. Originally, his old back pain felt like being pricked with needles, but with Chu Ge's large hands pushing and pressing, it did feel much better.
Chu Ge continued to massage Su Yuanke's back for a few more moments. "Feeling better?"
"Yeah, much better."
"Good, then let's keep moving." Chu Ge took his hand off Su Yuanke's back. "How much longer till we reach that cemetery you mentioned?"
"By foot... probably an hour? I'm not too sure."
This outcome was much better than Chu Ge expected, and he nodded, then asked, "You said before that you were going to Gui City Cemetery to pay respects to your Su Family ancestors and then leave Gui City, right? What about the vehicle?"
"I contacted a friend, and he got me a car, which is parked near Gui City Cemetery. I planned to leave right after paying my respects."
"It's possible your friend betrayed you."
Su Yuanke froze, "What?"
"Otherwise, how would those people know you'd take this route and set up an ambush to take you out?"
"That... shouldn't be. I only asked him to get me a car, didn't tell him anything else. How could that be?"
Su Yuanke frowned deeply. Even though he said that, judging by his expression, he clearly wasn't very confident, and his steps halted.
"What are you doing? Let's go," Chu Ge continued walking and called back.
Su Yuanke got anxious, looking at Chu Ge as if he were a monster. "Did you not say I might have been betrayed? We're still going? What if there's an ambush nearby?"
"Do you think you'd still be alive without me here? Whoever wants to kill you, even sending three experts of that level is already overestimating you. Why would they need to send more to lie in ambush?"
Seeing Chu Ge's scornful look and confident stance, Su Yuanke was again at a loss for words.
Though Chu Ge's words were cutting, it was true. Sending three experts like that to eliminate him seemed like using a butcher's knife to kill a chicken.
But... how did the people in that Grand Cherokee know he'd be at that spot at that time? How could that be explained?
Su Yuanke felt his brain was completely overwhelmed.
Seeing Su Yuanke silent, Chu Ge asked again, "Are you thinking about how your whereabouts got leaked?"
Su Yuanke nodded.
"Did the person you took out yesterday give you anything?"
"Something?"
Su Yuanke instinctively glanced at the gold watch on his left wrist. Even though his gaze was just a quick glance, Chu Ge caught it clearly.
"Did that person give you this watch?" Chu Ge asked, already having a likely factual guess in mind.
Su Yuanke hesitated for a moment, then finally nodded.
"I find you really damn..." Chu Ge rubbed his forehead forcefully, pointed at Su Yuanke, "I simply don't know what to say to you. Take off the watch, quickly."
Su Yuanke covered the gold watch on his left wrist with his right hand, "What do you want to do again?"
Chu Ge strode over to Su Yuanke, grabbed his hand to the side, removed the gold watch, and then smashed it to the ground with a "snap," picking up a small gadget that flew out and held it in front of Su Yuanke.
"Take a good look, what is this? A mini tracking device! Now you understand how they knew where you were?"
Su Yuanke opened his mouth but ultimately didn't say anything, letting out a bitter laugh and sigh.
When that person approached him yesterday, they didn't get rough with him but instead said some tempting words and handed him the gold watch as a gesture of goodwill on behalf of those above.
Su Yuanke didn't believe a single punctuation mark of that story, but he was very tempted by the gold watch, so he took it and then hypnotized the person, making them die in an "accidental car crash."
Su Yuanke thought he was clever, but it turned out...he still fell into someone else's trap, nearly losing his life over the watch.
As Su Yuanke was contemplating this, Chu Ge kicked the shattered gold watch, and with a flick of his arm, he threw the mini tracking device off the cliff as well.
"Alright, stop looking, let's go, just pretend you fell off with that tracking device."
Chu Ge pulled Su Yuanke, who was staring blankly at the watch with reluctance all over his face, seeing his hesitance to move, Chu Ge irritatingly kicked him in the butt.
"I seriously bought a watch last year, is that broken watch more important than your life? Or should I send you on your way to fetch it?"
Su Yuanke was kicked several steps away by Chu Ge, and seeing Chu Ge had the intention to continue kicking him, he quickly moved as far away from the railing as possible. Even if he didn't think Chu Ge would kick him down on purpose, what if by accident? He hadn't lived enough yet!
"Su Yuanke, I think I've been generous enough to you already. From now on, I hope you can be straightforward with me as well. Don't keep testing my patience. I do want to know something from you, but I don't have time to keep wasting like this with you."
Looking at Chu Ge's clearly impatient face, a look of hesitation flashed in Su Yuanke's eyes once more.
If before he thought that since Chu Ge needed something from him, he wouldn't do anything to him, now having witnessed Chu Ge's fierce or rather cold-blooded killing methods, that thought was beginning to waver. This guy is definitely not a kind and gentle person; he's terrifying when he really loses it.
"Su Yuanke, those three people earlier, I have no personal grudge against them. They just wanted to kill you, and I happened to be by your side, so they wanted to take me out too. I believe you know that very well, right?"
Su Yuanke nodded.
"Do you think I'm willing to kill those three? Let me tell you very clearly, I'm not, not at all. Just as they told me, they didn't want to fight me either because it made no sense to them. Yet, just because of you, three lives evaporated like that. Do you know that?"
"You must have noticed that my skills in killing are quite proficient, haven't you? Yes, I've done this kind of thing many times before, but no matter how many times it's done, I never considered it as it should be. At least up until now, I haven't thought so because I'm also a person, one with not just flesh and blood but also emotions and thoughts of my own."
"I'm like this, you're like this, they're like this, everyone is. Originally, we were just strangers with no intersection, but just because of you, we had to engage in a life-and-death fight. And a human's life, in fact, is so fragile. I'm telling you this, not to justify myself, but... I hope what I'm doing makes some sense."
Chu Ge rubbed his temples, took a deep breath to calm his emotions at that moment.
As he exhaled, he stared intently into Su Yuanke's eyes, nearly speaking every word with emphasis, "Does what I'm doing have any meaning, and if it does, what is that meaning? I need you to give me the answer."
Although Chu Ge didn't use any hypnotic abilities, the look in his eyes and the echo in his voice made Su Yuanke's heart tremble fiercely, causing him to unconsciously step back two steps.
Facing Chu Ge's seemingly calm eyes, Su Yuanke also took a deep breath, a mocking smile appearing on his face, mocking not only Chu Ge but also himself.
