Chapter 746 - 485: Rise of the Tomb, Wave of Terror Knights!

With a wave of Tidamia’s arm, the 70,000-strong Tomb Corpse Army, originally in a loose formation, suddenly compressed tightly together. Then, as the army of Corpse Undead reached the limit of its compression, it was as if a critical point had been surpassed. With a thunderous BOOM, the entire formation of Undead suddenly exploded, bursting outward in all directions.

Before the Giant Zombie Lord could even react, the 70,000 Corpse Undead had already swarmed out to encircle the nearly 150,000 zombies. Seventy thousand surrounding one hundred and fifty thousand? According to conventional military wisdom, this was an impossible feat, yet Tidamia had accomplished it.

In this Era of Myth, however, victories that defied conventional military wisdom were countless. Tidamia just so happened to have mastered a Battle Array capable of completely encircling an enemy with inferior forces: the Fishing Net Cutting Array. It was a unique Undead Battle Array that broke the whole into parts, which could then recombine into a whole at any moment. The strength of this Undead Battle Array lay in its ability to maximize the advantages of individual combat prowess, thereby converting an overall numerical disadvantage into numerous localized advantages in numbers.

Of course, this Undead Battle Array was useless against cavalry, especially a heavy cavalry Charge. The loose yet intricate encirclement formed by the Fishing Net Cutting Array could be easily smashed by overwhelming force. It was an excellent Undead Battle Array, but one that was only effective against light infantry.

On the battlefield, the 150,000-strong zombie army appeared to have scattered the Corpse Undead army with little effort. Seeing this, the Giant Zombie Lord grew even more certain of his initial guess. This is indeed a weak Undead force. Otherwise, it couldn’t have been scattered so easily. It seems I was far too cautious.

At this thought, the Giant Zombie Lord commanded his personal guard to advance toward the front lines. According to the cardinal rule of the Wasteland of Strife, the Undead Lord of an Undead Territory was always the individual with the greatest Combat Ability. To deal with the opposing Undead Lord, it was best to act personally to prevent any unforeseen incidents. Unfortunately for the Giant Zombie Lord, he did not know that the moment he stepped onto the battlefield, a pair of eyes was already fixed upon him.

Having detected the Soul Fire of the Giant Zombie Lord, Fang Zhou allowed a faint smile to cross his lips. He had actually been worried that this Zombie Lord might hide and refuse to make an appearance. If that had happened, finding one specific Zombie Lord among so many zombies would have been incredibly troublesome.

Now that the Giant Zombie Lord had arrived, there was no longer any need to continue the charade. Fang Zhou nodded to Tidamia. The slaughter could begin.

Tidamia gave a sharp nod, and the previously dispersed Fishing Net Cutting Array transformed once more. The Tomb Corpse Undead now formed groups of three. Each group targeted a single zombie, killing it with terrifying speed.

The greatest weakness of the Fishing Net Cutting Array was that it required a rich and complex system of transformations. To trap and slaughter a larger number of enemies, the Commander’s control over the array needed to be ever more precise. Among all of Fang Zhou’s subordinates, only Tidamia could accomplish this task.

In the Wasteland of Strife, an ordinary Undead Lord had to communicate with his subordinates via their Soul Fire. This was manageable with small numbers, but once the army exceeded a certain size, it became impossible to precisely control the actions of every single Undead. After all, although the self-awareness of an Undead was faint, it still existed. If the Commander’s intent could not be perfectly conveyed, the Undead would simply revert to their instinctual behaviors. Therefore, in large-scale battles, Undead Lords were often limited to issuing simple commands like "attack" or "retreat." Even if an Undead Lord was wise enough to devise simple stratagems, like luring the enemy deeper, they could only be executed through these basic commands. Otherwise, lower-level Undead Creatures were simply incapable of comprehending such intentions, making proper execution impossible.

But Tidamia was different. His Talent lay in Battle Arrays, and his skill in War Command far surpassed that of an ordinary Undead Lord. Furthermore, Tidamia was no longer commanding ordinary Skeletons or Zombies. All of the Corpse Undead had been converted in the Tomb’s Undead Conversion Field, becoming official Tomb Undead recognized by the Corpse Authority. These Tomb Undead not only possessed Combat Ability far surpassing that of ordinary low-level Undead, but more importantly, they could follow Tidamia’s commands to the letter. When Tidamia commanded them, it was as effortless as moving his own fingers. He could clearly and easily convey even the most complex intentions to every single Tomb Undead under his command.

Only a force like this could truly be called an army. Anything less was just a pile of loose sand. This was an ability that the Undead Lords native to the Undead Realm could never hope to possess.

...

Fang Zhou gazed out over the battlefield. The hundreds of thousands of Undead from both sides were now completely intermingled, making it almost impossible to tell friend from foe. In this situation, the zombie forces naturally fell into Chaos. In contrast, the Tomb Undead army under Tidamia’s command remained dispersed yet orderly, methodically harvesting the lives of the zombies.
