Chapter 461 - 461: The Delivery Boy
Chapter 461 - 461: The Delivery Boy
The portal suspended in the sky rapidly closed, the glass shards of space knitting themselves back together, and after a few minutes of waiting a brand new portal opened up - this time closer to the ground.Lee strode out of this portal, straightening the cuffs of his jacket in the process. He was dressed in a refined suit made from evolved spider-silk, making it tough and extra comfortable on top of being insanely expensive.
He was the symbol of wealth and prosperity, which was evident in his swaggering walk.
Although Lee still operated as Corvus' 'Omen', his main focus was his own transportation business. If you wanted to get somewhere quickly and safely across the British Isle, then Quick-Lee was the business you would go with. Yes, he picked that name himself.
There were other companies offering similar services, but none of them were quite as successful and widespread as his.
Exiting the portal behind the swaggering business mogul was a young girl with long dark hair that trailed down her back. Her wide, doe eyes looked around nervously before landing on Woe, and then his hand.
With a shocked gasp, Ava immediately rushed over to her twin as her pale skin began to glow with a soft white light.
Lee let out a soft chuckle at the girls eagerness, not moving to try and stop her. That was why he brought her, after all. Another pair of healers stepped through the portal and immediately got to work themselves as the portal closed behind them.
With his hands resting in his pockets, Lee glanced around with a curious gaze before swaggering over to Seth like he owned the place.
"Hey man, Sorry it took me so long. They weren't in the healing house and I had to do a bit of searching."
Seth couldn't help but let out a small laugh at that. Of course, to Lee, a few minutes was long. When you could get anywhere instantly, any amount of wait probably felt like an eternity.
The same mentality was common in those with speed type mutations. The faster they were, the more impatient they grew. There was even a rumour of one person who just never turned off their super-speed and lived their entire life in the span of an hour, but he never got around to confirming whether that was true or not. It made for a nice story though.
Lee's impatient and swaggering attitude had only grown once he developed his ability enough to literally go anywhere. Transcendence removed the limitation on him needing to have been somewhere before to open a portal.
He just needed co-ordinates now, or a vague sense of direction and distance, and he was fine. All he had to do was open one in the sky, stick his head through to get a good view of somewhere safe and then open one on the ground.
"It's fine." Seth greeted Lee with a quick, friendly handshake before continuing, "It's good that you brought extras with you. I should have mentioned that. Welcome to America, by the way."
"America huh... Could be a good opportunity. I have been wanting to expand the business, and some international commerce could be quite lucrative."
"Well then, Isn't it a good thing America is always the home of men of business." A new voice interjected.
Xander strolled over with even more swagger and confidence than Lee, sticking his hand out and shaking Lee's as if they were already the best of friends.
Corvus had disappeared, moving over to find Astra after pulling his hood up once more. Seth stared at the pair of them, Astra and Corvus, as they talked closely. His eyes were narrowed and his mind swam with countless conflicting thoughts and feelings that tugged at the strings of his heart.
A slap on the shoulder snapped him out of his strange thoughts, as Xander pulled him and Lee closer to himself, as he said with a wide smile.
"We are going to work very well together boys, don't you worry."
"Huh?" Seth blinked softly, staring at Xander in bafflement. The American just laughed again, smacking Seth's shoulder.
"Your master over there lent you to me, We're gonna have to discuss some important trade matters. But now I'm interested even more in this business deal. Once we get back to the Gold House, we can talk about it more."
Seth's head whipped towards Corvus, who was deliberately not looking in his direction. The bastard didn't want to go, so he had 'delegated' it to someone else, aka he had dumped it onto the lap of his helpless 'squire', which just so happened to be Seth.
He knew this move all too well, because that was supposed to be his move!
"He got all the looks, while you got the brains, huh?" Xander rambled, "Which is weird, considering he's the faceless leader. But oh well.
Ah, looky there. My men finally turned up."
He pointed to the sky, directing Seth's attention away from glaring at Corvus once more and instead to the small dots approaching them. As they drew closer, the dots began to take the shape of colossal birds beating their wings against the wind.
They let out shrill cries, perhaps of panic or of warning. Whatever it was, it caused Omelette to raise his head and let out a roar of his own.
Blood dripped from the Wyvern's snout as he did so, as the gluttonous boy had taken no time at all to start feasting on the T-Chex that he had helped kill. He didn't even ask, just started to gorge himself on it.
The eagles let out a chorus of shrieks, clearly a bit more distressed as they stopped their advance and hovered in the air. It seemed that they were afraid that the Wyvern had taken a liking to the taste of bird, and were worried that they might be next.
Although... Since Omelette evolved from a Raven egg before his feathers were replaced with scales, did that make this a sort of cannibalism? No, probably not. Birds ate other birds all the time.
Eventually, after much deliberation in the sky over whether they would be made into the Wyvern's Dessert, the eagles beat their wings again and started to descend.
