Chapter 1487 - 1486: The Master
Chapter 1487 - 1486: The Master
"Search for her, make sure you bring that woman to me!"The man, radiating aggression, wore a sharp knife at his waist as he kicked open the inn door. Suddenly, dozens of people appeared behind him. Following his command, a group rushed in without reporting and started searching upstairs and downstairs.
"Stop there, what do you want? This is my inn. If you want someone, talk to our shopkeeper first. Let him help you investigate, can't he?"
The inn servant was hot-tempered. He couldn't stand people with an air of official arrogance. Even if you're a government official, you can't just rush in to search people without a document, right?
"Enough with the nonsense, search!"
Have you seen the Zhou Family reason with anyone?
Have you ever seen the Zhou Family follow proper procedures to search for someone?
Sorry, the Zhou Family never knew what rules are!
The shopkeeper dared not appear, and the inn servant was indignant, trying to regain some face for the shopkeeper, hoping to make an impression in front of him. But he hadn't expected that a mere shopkeeper was nothing, and how could anyone from the Zhou Family be matched by a mere inn servant?
An inn servant couldn't stop a group of the Zhou Family's servants, and soon the entire inn was surrounded by the Zhou Family's servants.
"You few go upstairs, and you few go downstairs. Do not miss a single corner!"
The housekeeper commanded from below. Anyone observant would have noticed that not only were there people inside, but outside, the house servants had even surrounded the inn.
"Yes!"
Tang Rao sat in the private room, not showing a trace of panic. Meanwhile, Yue Er, hearing the commotion outside, clearly started to feel uneasy.
"Master, people outside are about to come in. We should leave now, or it'll be too late once we're discovered!"
She stepped forward to pull Tang Rao but couldn't even touch the hem of his garment.
Yue Er knew Tang Rao was still highly guarded against her.
"Why should I panic? They're looking for you, not me. Even if they find you in my room, I won't be to blame, right?"
Tang Rao smiled at Yue Er, his eyes filled with schemes which he didn't bother to hide.
Yue Er's heart skipped a beat.
Tang Rao intended to abandon Yue Er, to cast her out?
Then why did he take her from the Zhou Family?
"What instructions does the master have? As long as Yue Er can do it, Yue Er will resolutely support the master!"
Yue Er had yielded to Tang Rao more than once. From the moment Tang Rao rescued her from the Zhou Family, she was prepared to sacrifice everything for him.
"Already scared? It's just casting a wide net, just looking for someone, and you're frightened. If caught and subjected to harsh interrogation, wouldn't you confess to everything even before a single whip came down?"
Tang Rao still wore a cheerful expression. As the noise outside grew louder and footsteps approached, Yue Er turned pale as a sheet.
"No, Yue Er will obey the master entirely!"
Yue Er was determined. Even if Tang Rao now asked her to face the Zhou Family's servants herself, she wouldn't retreat.
At this moment, besides trusting Tang Rao, she didn't know whom else she could rely on.
"Hmm, then lie down on the bed now."
What?
Yue Er thought Tang Rao misspoke or that she misheard.
"Master?"
Yue Er was full of questions.
"If you don't go now, it will be too late. Do you want to be caught by the Zhou Family's servants?"
Tang Rao's words left Yue Er speechless, unable to argue.
She obediently lay on the bed. As Tang Rao heard the sound outside growing louder, he took off his coat and covered himself with the quilt. Just then, their private room's door was kicked open.
"Search!"
Yue Er's heart jumped to her throat. She was nearly startled into screaming when Tang Rao covered her mouth, ensuring she swallowed back the scream.
"I wonder what illicit things are in my room, or whether you all want to see the affairs between me and my wife?"
Tang Rao's dissatisfaction was evident. His body was still exposed, and what was happening under the quilt was clear to the Zhou Family's servants.
"Uh, have you seen a woman?"
Seen a woman?
What kind of question was that?
Tang Rao almost couldn't help but laugh out loud.
"What are you saying? There's a person, a woman, lying beneath me. I've seen many women, what are you trying to imply?"
Tang Rao was obviously mocking the Zhou Family's servants. How could the servants not understand? But as they were 'handling business,' further disturbances might cause trouble that nobody wanted.
"If you haven't seen anyone, then forget it, let's go!"
When the Zhou Family's men left, Tang Rao quickly dressed, although nothing had transpired. Lying in the same bed with a woman, Yue Er's thoughts were far more complex than his.
"It's fine now, we're safe."
Tang Rao had no interest in Yue Er. If it weren't for a critical scenario, he wouldn't have pinned her down.
Seeing Yue Er's cheeks flush with embarrassment, Tang Rao hoped she wouldn't misunderstand, fearing that she might demand responsibility like the previous women he'd encountered.
"Thank you, master, for saving my life."
Yue Er knelt to thank Tang Rao, and for such a grand gesture, Tang Rao didn't think to refuse.
"You can leave now."
Tang Rao, without further words or demands, let Yue Er go. Yue Er couldn't believe it would be that simple.
"Yue Er won't go; I wish to stay by the master's side to serve you."
Originally about to rise, Yue Er, upon hearing Tang Rao dismissed her, remained on her knees, her forehead touching the ground, bleeding.
"Serve me? I can take care of myself, no need for others."
Tang Rao stated he needed no one to serve him, yet in truth, he simply didn't want additional trouble. Throughout this time, he'd learned more lessons from hardships than he'd eaten rice.
"Does master dislike Yue Er?"
Yue Er looked up at Tang Rao, her blood spreading like a flamboyant rose.
"It's not that I dislike you. I just can't get used to being disturbed. Yue Er, why don't you attend to your matters first? When I need you, I'll naturally come to find you, alright?"
Even with Tang Rao's attempts to reason, he couldn't persuade Yue Er. Seeing the girl still not rise, his heart suddenly felt a rush of panic.
"I beg you, master, please don't reject me. I grew up without parents. I was naive, thinking helping the Second Young Master would lead to a future. Realizing my thoughts were too simplistic came too late after harsh lessons."
