Chapter 269 Confusing
Chapter 269 Confusing
"Fine, for Li Luo's sake, I won't hold it against you...!" Under Li Luo's persuasion, Yan Cai suppressed her inner dissatisfaction, glared fiercely at Tu Shan Yan, and then turned to leave. She knew in her heart that if it weren't for Li Luo, she would never have let this guy who had embarrassed her off so easily. But at this moment, she was willing to swallow her anger to avoid embarrassing Li Luo.
"I have other matters to attend to, I can't keep you company any longer...!" Tu Shanyan coldly uttered these words, then ignored Yan Cai and Li Luo, rushing nervously towards the Hundred Herbs Hall. He muttered to himself, "I hope nothing goes wrong." At this moment, the once bustling street became eerily quiet, almost deathly still. This eerie atmosphere sent a chill down Tu Shanyan's spine, and he quickened his pace.
"It's daytime, why is there no one here?" Tu Shanyan ran, looking around in confusion. This familiar street now felt utterly alien, as if he were the only person left in the world. This feeling made him increasingly panicked, unsure of what awaited him ahead.
Soon after, he finally arrived at the Hundred Herbs Hall. Looking at the familiar door before him, his heart pounded faster, and his unease intensified. He stood there, motionless, as if nailed to the spot. He dared not push the door open, fearing that stepping inside would reveal the exact same scene as in his dream. This fear made him hesitate, unable to take the next step.
“Brother Yan…! You’re back…?” Xiong Xi’s voice trembled, tears welling up in his eyes. He stood behind Tu Shan Yan, dressed in white mourning clothes, his body swaying slightly.
Hearing the voice, Tu Shanyan's heart skipped a beat. He quickly turned around, his eyes searching anxiously. When he saw Xiong Xi, his heart, which had been pounding with anxiety, finally eased slightly, but he was still filled with worry and tension. He asked urgently, "Xiong Xi...! What happened? Where's Huanhuan? Is Huanhuan alright?"
"My sister...!" Xiong Xi choked up, tears streaming down her face.
"Why are you crying? Tell me! Is she alright?" Tu Shanyan teleported to Xiong Xi's side and grabbed Xiong Xi's arms tightly, pressing her for answers.
"My sister is alright...!" Xiong Xi wiped away her tears and replied to Tu Shan Yan in a trembling voice.
"Then why are you crying...?" Tu Shanyan asked, somewhat puzzled, but finally felt relieved.
“Brother Yan, I’m crying because everyone in the village has disappeared…? I’m so happy to see you…!” Xiong Xi explained, sobbing.
"Alright, alright, you're a grown man, why are you crying? Wait, what did you say? What? The whole village is gone? Where's Huanhuan? Huanhuan? And what's wrong with you? Why are you dressed like that? Who's in trouble?" Tu Shanyan frowned, looking at the white mourning clothes on Tu Shanyan's body, a sense of unease rising in his heart.
"Ran's mother is dead...!" Xiong Xi's voice trembled even more, as if trying to convey the fear and pain deep in his heart.
"What...? What exactly happened? Tell me quickly!" Tu Shanyan stared wide-eyed, his face full of astonishment, and he pressed Xiong Xi for answers with great emotion.
"I don't know, I really don't know. As soon as I got back here, I saw Ran's mother's body. Everyone else has disappeared." Xiong Xi's face was full of terror, and his body was trembling uncontrollably. He seemed to still be immersed in the horrific scene he had witnessed.
Tu Shanyan's expression turned grave, a sense of foreboding rising within him. He clenched his fists, struggling to remain calm. "What on earth is going on? Why is this happening?"
However, faced with this sudden change, they felt bewildered and helpless. Ran's mother's death, the disappearance of others—everything became shrouded in mystery.
