Chapter 1685: Assassin Attack
Chapter 1685: Assassin Attack
Ye Xuan noticed that Chiba Sakurako seemed a bit off. He frowned and asked, "Sakurako, you look weird. Got something on your mind?""Ah? No!"
Chiba Sakurako jolted back to her senses and denied it without even thinking. Her beautiful eyes darted around guiltily, and after stammering for quite a while, she said, "I...I...I’ll go out and buy you a charger!"
With that, Chiba Sakurako was about to flee in panic.
Ye Xuan looked completely speechless.
He watched as Chiba Sakurako was about to run out.
Lying on the hospital bed, Ye Xuan suddenly raised an eyebrow. The smile on his face vanished in an instant, replaced by a cold, stern sharpness.
"Wait." Ye Xuan called out in a low voice.
Chiba Sakurako halted, looking at Ye Xuan in confusion. "Wh-what’s wrong?"
Ye Xuan waved his hand, signaling Chiba Sakurako not to speak.
In the absolute silence.
Ye Xuan’s sword-like brows furrowed tightly, his pitch-black eyes turning slightly.
A few seconds later.
"Assassins."
Ye Xuan’s lips curled. He ripped out all the tubes on his body in one go, gritted his teeth against the pain as he sat up, grabbed Chiba Sakurako, and dragged her toward the windowsill without giving her any chance to argue.
Ye Xuan wrapped his arms around the still-dazed Chiba Sakurako and leapt.
The two of them jumped out of the window and disappeared.
One minute later.
The tightly closed ward door was pushed open. Two beautiful women in nurse uniforms walked in. Seeing the empty ward, both of them froze.
The two exchanged a glance, then closed the door. In tacit unison, they pulled sharp daggers out of their pockets and cautiously moved toward the bathroom.
Click!
One of them opened the bathroom door.
Swish!
The other one, without a word, slashed straight into the bathroom.
A wasted cut.
"Damn it!"
Seeing the bathroom empty, the Assassin disguised as a nurse instantly darkened. "That cunning Black Emperor ran!"
The other Assassin frowned as well, her gaze sweeping the ward. When she saw the bloodstains left on the bed, she analyzed in a deep voice, "The blood’s still wet. They just ran."
In a few quick strides, the Assassin reached the windowsill.
Unfortunately, she was still a step too late. Even with her eyesight, the dozens upon dozens of patients wandering below made her vision blur for a moment. She simply couldn’t pick out which one was the Black Emperor.
"The Black Emperor and Chiba Sakurako are both seriously injured. They can’t get far in a short time." The Assassin said coldly, "Have the others search with us. They won’t get away!"
"Let’s go!"
The two Assassins came in a hurry and left in a hurry.
About ten minutes after they left.
There was finally some movement by the windowsill.
Very soon, Ye Xuan appeared again, climbing back in through the window with Chiba Sakurako in his arms.
"Motherfucker, that hurt like hell!"
As he landed, Ye Xuan’s mouth twitched nonstop. Just now, hanging motionless for more than ten minutes on the outer wall’s blind spot using only his arm strength had torn open his not-yet-healed wounds again.
Chiba Sakurako’s face was full of hatred. "Who the hell are these Assassins? A batch of them just failed a few days ago, and now, after only a few days, another batch shows up!"
Chiba Sakurako was furious.
This anger wasn’t any less than what she felt when she learned the entire Sword God Association had betrayed them.
In just a few days, two waves of utterly ruthless Assassins had already appeared, giving them absolutely no way out, not even a moment to catch their breath!
These people all deserved to die!
Ye Xuan himself, on the other hand, showed little emotional fluctuation. He curled his lips into a wry smile, shook his head, and said, "Other than the Holy Mansion, what other force in this world can keep sending large numbers of Assassins in such a short time?"
"The Holy Mansion, again the Holy Mansion!"
Chiba Sakurako’s face was overcast. The usually gentle, scholarly her now had her fists clenched tight, and killing aura surged from her.
Ye Xuan was stunned for a moment, then understood.
He had almost forgotten—the Sword God’s fall also had its roots in the Holy Mansion. Chiba Sakurako’s hatred for the Holy Mansion was something ordinary people could never imagine.
Letting out a helpless sigh, Ye Xuan said in a deep voice, "I’m heavily injured this time. For the Holy Mansion, that’s the perfect opportunity. They definitely won’t let it slip. I’ve been lying in this hospital for so many days, and they only showed up today—that’s already pretty lucky."
Chiba Sakurako clenched her white teeth tightly, feeling a chill of fear as well.
Both her and Ye Xuan’s injuries were too serious. Even now, their combat strength was extremely limited. If the Holy Mansion had found this place before Ye Xuan woke up, it would undoubtedly have been a world-ending disaster.
Neither she nor Ye Xuan would have survived!
"What do we do now?"
Chiba Sakurako looked at Ye Xuan and asked, "From what those two Assassins just said, they should have a lot of accomplices. If they don’t find us outside, they’ll definitely come back. We can’t stay in this hospital any longer!"
"Of course." Ye Xuan frowned and pondered for a moment. "In our current state, fighting them head-on is asking to die. I have to get back to Yan Country as soon as possible. The longer we stay here, the more dangerous it is."
"I’ll go back to Yan Country with you!" Chiba Sakurako said.
Ye Xuan was stunned.
Chiba Sakurako’s pretty face flushed inexplicably red. She hurried to explain, "I...I don’t really have anywhere else to go anyway. You need someone to take care of you now. If you don’t mind, I might be able to help a little."
"Alright, then let’s go together."
Ye Xuan smiled without overthinking it, took Chiba Sakurako’s small hand, and left the ward.
Feeling the warmth of the man’s broad palm, Chiba Sakurako’s heart flustered for no reason, and her mind went a bit blank.
Women in the Northern Federation are conservative. If it’s not an emergency, their hands aren’t something you can just casually hold.
Chiba Sakurako instinctively wanted to pull away, but at the same time...didn’t really want to.
Complicated, strange!
Before Chiba Sakurako could fully regain her senses, Ye Xuan had already led her to the hospital pharmacy. He quietly slipped inside, found a few suitable medicines, quickly treated their wounds, and then headed straight for the hospital parking lot.
Bang!
Ye Xuan smashed the window of a luxury car.
Chiba Sakurako was a little dumbfounded.
As Ye Xuan got in the car, he explained, "It’s just a window. People who drive this kind of car aren’t short of money."
Chiba Sakurako got in in a daze. It took her quite a while to understand what Ye Xuan meant, and she couldn’t help but feel a bit moved.
The rich aren’t short of money, but the poor are.
They were in a rush to leave the Northern Federation and obviously couldn’t compensate the car owner. If Ye Xuan drove off in some poor man’s car, then even just a broken window would be a burden on the owner.
After all, for people who aren’t well-off, every single dollar counts.
He’s really kind—at a time like this, he can still be this considerate...
Vroom!
Ye Xuan started the car, floored the gas pedal, and the high-performance luxury car turned into a fierce tiger, roaring out of the hospital.
"Which way is the airport?" Ye Xuan shouted.
"To the east!" Chiba Sakurako snapped back to reality and answered quickly.
Ye Xuan nodded and sped toward the airport.
