StarCraft: Everyone wants the Queen

Chapter 79 Roundtable Conference

Chapter 79 Roundtable Conference

In the center of the magnificent hall stands a round table, with mahogany chairs symbolizing the status of the thirteen clans evenly distributed around it, exuding elegance and luxury.

Whenever the Zerg face a crisis that shakes their very foundations, the Round Table, a meeting of thirteen clans symbolizing power and strength, is convened.

The last meeting was held two hundred years ago when the insect queen perished, and this time it has only been two hundred years.

"On behalf of the members of the thirteen clans, I would like to speak."

The Grand Elder was the first to stand up and bow to the other twelve representatives.

He is Elder Kavid, the brain center of the Presbyterian Church.

He possesses unparalleled power and status, and is also the patriarch of the Deskell lineage.

Kavid waved his hand, and a 3D projector appeared in the center of the mahogany round table.

The projected image is a 3D map of the Milky Way, with countless colorful planets orbiting different interstellar trajectories. In the face of absolute technology, the coordinates of various galaxies are nothing more than a bunch of data.

Clearing his throat, Kavid began, "Gentlemen, this meeting is being held in haste. The Wolf Clan has begun a secret advance towards our race from our first line of defense fortress, and they are currently located near the fourth star system."

As he spoke, he tapped a small corner of the projected image with his baton.

Before their eyes, the entirety of the fourth star system appeared.

The last time I saw the spacetime coordinates of the fourth star system was when the previous insect queen was still alive.

What was once the territory of the Zerg has now become a supply point for the Wolf Clan.

“The fourth star system is rich in resources, so the Wolf Clan must have stationed their fleet here for future resource supply,” Kavid explained calmly. “Due to our clan’s two-hundred-year-long internal strife, we currently have few Zerg soldiers available to be deployed to the front lines, and we also lack commanders to lead them…”

After the introduction, I couldn't think of any useful generals among the Zerg.

"If Klein hadn't betrayed us and dragged Sarnster into exile, why would our Zerg be without any useful Zerg talents!"

The one who spoke was the Third Elder, a grumpy old man.

"Why bother, Third Elder? It's all in the past. Besides, when the Insect Queen was still alive, weren't we in a state of war all year round?" the younger Fourth Elder reassured him.

"Besides, after more than two hundred years of recuperation, Wang Xing shouldn't be unable to find a single useful insect. Wasn't the Commander-in-Chief's sister found from among the commoners? I remember that the Grand Elder and she were mortal enemies."

The Fourth Elder smiled and said, "If we can't find one among the thirteen clans, we might as well find one among the common people."

"Absolutely impossible! How can you find a valiant general among commoners?!" The Third Elder slammed his fist on the table and stood up angrily. "We didn't even give those insects the right to education. They never received any education, so how can you talk about leading them..."

"Enough!" Kavid slammed his fist on the table in dissatisfaction. "That's a different matter, Third Elder. Our priority now is to select a general capable of shouldering this important task, not to discuss policies to keep the people ignorant."

Then he looked at the Fourth Elder and said, "Since the Fourth Elder is so calm, he must have found a suitable candidate. Why don't you tell me?"

The Fourth Elder smiled, his graying hair tied back, revealing a slightly aged face.

As one of the few elders willing to elect commoners, the Fourth Elder was never very popular in the council and rarely had contact with the other elders.

So the Fourth Elder cupped his hands, stood up and said, “I remember there are many intelligent people in the thirteen clans. Didn’t Michel work with Saenster before? I suppose his military talent is no less than his.”

All eyes turned to the only empty chair among the thirteen seats.

Michelle didn't come; instead, a small screen appeared.

At this moment, Michelle is enjoying a rare vacation on a planet tens of thousands of light-years away.

Upon hearing someone mention her, Michelle pulled down her sunglasses and smiled at the twelve people on the screen. "I'm fine, but it might take some time to get back, and we'll need to bring in more people."

“Manpower is not a problem,” Elder Simmore said. “We will send people to assist you at that time.”

“That would be wonderful,” Michelle raised her coconut juice and clinked glasses with it in the air. “Thank you, Elder Kavid. I’ll head back to Wangxing right away.”

The video then cut off, and seeing that some insects were willing to help, Kavid's expression improved.

Are there any other candidates?

"Of course." The Fourth Elder took a sip of red wine and gestured for someone to look behind him.

A male insect dressed in military uniform, exuding a cool and mature aura, walked up from behind and saluted the twelve people at the round table.

"Alex Deskol has volunteered to stay on the front lines and defend the last line of defense for the Zerg!"

Kavid looked at his eldest son in disbelief.

Although I was prepared, I still couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness when the reality came.

Alex has grown up and is no longer the little boy who loved playing with spaceship models hundreds of years ago.

Despite the immense reluctance in their hearts, all personal feelings and family matters turned into a sigh in the face of the Zerg's safety.

Elder Kavid chose to let go and allow the children to make their own way in the world.

"Alex, unanimously approved, is now the commander of the Wangxing Military Command..."

Gatana sat to the side, propping his head up with his hand and nodding occasionally in agreement with the decision.

Attending meetings is one of the commander's duties, and this is the first time he has attended a roundtable meeting in all these years.

Gatana looked at the conversation on the table about the future development of the Zerg, and at the elders who almost came to blows, and couldn't help but sigh that being a commander was not easy.

"I wonder what the Commander-in-Chief thinks about this?" The Third Elder shifted the topic to him.

In an instant, the air froze, and the once noisy round table fell silent.

All the insects' eyes turned to their new commander. Seeing this, Gatana straightened his back, stood up, and walked to the Grand Elder's side.

Alex had been standing beside Elder Kavid ever since he appeared, and when Gatana approached, he simply nodded and made way for him.

“Alex need not be so polite,” Gatana said with his usual calm smile. “Elder Kavid has done a good job raising his son; his eldest son has become the commander-in-chief of the Royal Star Army at a young age.”

Upon hearing Gatana mention him, Alex stared at him with his pale purple eyes hidden beneath the brim of his hat.

I don't understand why this commander-in-chief and person in power would mention himself.

However, after he said that, Kavid understood and said, "I wonder if the Commander-in-Chief has any other opinions, or perhaps... he doesn't approve of my son's abilities? If that's the case, it seems that the Commander has a more suitable candidate."

Kavid understood that Gatana was only doing this because he was worried that the command of the military would fall into the hands of the elders. He coughed and sighed, "I just wonder which insect commander-in-chief has his eye on. It would be good for us old guys to broaden our horizons."

"Colonel Nordlin, my right-hand man."
