Chapter 203 I'm still a baby
Chapter 203 I'm still a baby
Katherine, who was left to wait outside, wondered why his superior, Irina, had been secretly chatting with them.
It's been so long, aren't we finished talking yet?
Or is it that all women talk so much when they gossip?
Katherine felt it was time to knock on the door and urge Commander Irina.
Although the commander is usually a workaholic and often works overtime until late at night, that doesn't mean that Katherine is a workaholic!
Katherine hesitated, raising her hand and then lowering it again.
What if knocking on the door disturbs their good time—no, I mean, disturbs their gossip? Will the boss dock their pay?
But my family is quite wealthy, so we don't lack this salary.
He raised his hand again after lowering it, showing that Katherine's resolve had strengthened considerably.
But then again...
On the other hand, there's nothing to say.
dong dong dong.
No one responded.
Thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump thump!
A rapid, pattering sound rang out, but even though Katherine had knocked so hard that the door was dented, no sound came from inside.
"Hey, isn't this General Katherine? What's up? Waiting for your boss here?"
A colleague, drawn in by the knocking, saw Katherine and teased her.
“…” Katherine remained silent.
But that carefree colleague wasn't about to let go of the opportunity to watch the show. Seeing that Irina's door didn't open, he continued, "Don't give up, General. Keep knocking. You can knock the door until it breaks."
"Get out!" Katherine spat out the word through gritted teeth, her face full of impatience.
That colleague had a good relationship with Commander Irina, but they had never gotten along. It was one thing for him to cause trouble for me when he had nothing better to do, but he also had to come and watch the show while I was on vacation.
Isn't this a blatant provocation?
"Hey, look at him, he's getting anxious, he's getting anxious," a colleague said to the person next to him, holding a cup of coffee.
Katherine's face grew increasingly dark.
Because his arch-enemy managed to call over a dozen people to watch the show in less than two minutes.
“Sharing happiness is worse than enjoying it alone, it’s more lively with more people,” my colleague said with a smile after taking a sip of coffee. “Hehe, I just love watching the excitement.”
Judging from the "joining the crowd theorem," something unexpected is bound to happen next.
"Katherine, what are you doing here?" Koster frowned, drawn by the laughter.
As soon as he entered the federal control room, he heard laughter coming from inside.
I thought it was the control room staff playing some new trick, but it turned out to be my own brother causing trouble.
"So, tell me, what are you planning to do now?"
"My brother, can you please let me explain?" Katherine opened her mouth, then thought for a moment to think of what to say.
“No,” Koster refused outright. “Tell me why you’re here first.”
“I’m waiting for Commander Irina, but she’s talking with two ladies. Out of courtesy and gentlemanly conduct, I cannot enter the room without the host’s permission after knocking,” Katherine said smugly.
Unsurprisingly, his brother will likely praise himself.
But it's clear that something unexpected happened this time.
"Alright, then you can wait here."
Ok? ? ?
Something's not right!
Why does no one praise me?
Shouldn't you praise yourself for being polite, well-mannered, and cultured at a time like this?
But why does my brother have an expression that says it has nothing to do with me?
Why were all those colleagues, a dozen or so in total, huddled together and secretly laughing at me? And why were they glancing in my direction every now and then?
Katherine was filled with doubt and blurted out, "Brother, why don't you praise me?"
"Praise you?"
Koster glanced at him, wondering why his younger brother, who was already quite old, was still acting like a child.
"Yeah, brother, if you don't praise me, are you going to praise other kids instead?"
Okay, he admits, Koster concedes defeat.
My younger brother is only twenty years old. It would be a stretch to say he's only been an adult for a few years. He's probably, maybe, perhaps, possibly, maybe... still a child.
Koster pondered what words to use to praise his younger brother without sounding perfunctory. He felt he had racked his brains and desperately wanted to say something to compliment him, but tragically realized that he had never praised his own brother before.
So all I could manage to say was, "Well done, keep it up."
"Okay." Katherine gave an OK sign to indicate that she understood.
"I will continue to work hard, please don't worry, brother!"
"Like a little kid," Koster muttered under his breath, but his face remained serious and stern.
"Remember to always be disciplined. Do not put it in the room without Commander Irina's response."
After saying that, Koster left without looking back.
The figure from behind looked like it was fleeing in panic.
Katherine shook her head, thinking that she might be overthinking things.
Seeing that he had obtained firsthand information about Katherine's naivety, the colleague patted his behind and prepared to leave, but was called over by Katherine.
"What's that in your hand?"
"None of your business!" the colleague retorted without giving any face.
"How dare you speak to a general like that? You have no manners at all!" Katherine childishly invoked her position, attempting to use her status to pressure her colleague into handing over what she was holding.
But who are his colleagues?
How could someone who has been able to hold his own against Katherine for so long without suffering any losses be defeated by such a small threat?
"Want it?" The colleague narrowed his eyes dangerously, his wicked smile full of temptation.
Katherine nodded.
"Hey, what can you do to me if I don't give it to you?"
As he spoke, his colleague made a face at him and ran off happily.
Katherine was left standing there, bewildered and lost in the wind.
"No, is this guy crazy?" Katherine concluded based on all of her colleague's unusual behavior.
Katherine's back looked increasingly forlorn as she obediently waited outside for Commander Irina to open the door.
Increasingly lonely.
Increasingly...childish?
Irina, who was coming out of the stairwell, saw Katherine facing the wall in contemplation and asked in confusion, "Katherine?"
Katherine turned around stiffly, her eyes welling up with tears when she saw Irina.
"you……"
Before Irina could finish speaking, Katherine rushed over, sobbing.
"Waaaaah, Commander Irina, why did you suddenly jump out from behind? Do you know how long I've been waiting here? You don't care about the life of your subordinate at all!"
After a long, drawn-out complaint, Katherine felt extremely wronged.
His superior was not in the room, nor did he speak to him.
He stood there dumbfounded, knocking on the door for nearly two hours, amidst the laughter of his colleagues.
No, why?
“Katherine, stop crying and stand up to talk,” Irina thought Katherine was still as childish as ever. “Why are you still so childish?”
They are both renowned generals in the Federation.
But his behavior and speech are still like a child's.
"Waaaaah, Commander Irina, I... I'm still a baby!"
