Chapter 1322 - 382: Guangzi’s Crisis
Chapter 1322 - 382: Guangzi’s Crisis
Seeing the Merfolk King and Luo Qianche, who had ventured out to sea in the daylight, suddenly appear at the shrine’s entrance, Ye Lingyue and the others were all taken aback.
Looking at Luo Qianche again, after just one day, she no longer had the spirited and vigorous appearance from before. During the day, she had boldly declared that she would definitely catch the Water Ghost.
But now, her appearance could no longer be simply described as just disheveled, even the Merfolk King looked somewhat exhausted.
Clearly, the once overconfident Luo Qianche had hit a roadblock during today’s journey on the Han River.
More than just hitting a roadblock, strictly speaking, Luo Qianche and her team had run into a streak of extremely bad luck today.
Luo Qianche’s ship encountered an attack from strange waterweed creatures in the Water Ghost’s territory, severely damaging the ship and injuring many crew members. Xu Ce even fell into a coma, forcing them to turn back.
Yet, on the way back, the ship started taking on water.
Just as Luo Qianche ordered repairs to the hull, the previously comatose Jiang Ce suddenly went berserk and started biting anyone he saw. Those bitten also began to exhibit symptoms similar to Jiang Ce.
In a desperate situation, the Merfolk King and Luo Qianche could only imprison Jiang Ce and those crew members.
"What happened to Xue Ce?"
Ye Lingyue was surprised.
"Possessed by a Water Ghost."
Reluctantly, Luo Qianche uttered these words.
Aside from this, she couldn’t find any other explanation.
"Let’s go take a look first."
Ye Lingyue didn’t get along with Luo Qianche and Xue Ce, but the Water Ghost issue had far-reaching implications, so she had to temporarily put aside her prejudices and focus on treating Xu Ce.
After entrusting the affairs at the shrine to Senior Sister Wan Yun and Huang Jun, Ye Lingyue and her party rushed to the dock.
At Yuliao Town’s dock, under the bright moonlight, the Mayor’s ship was moored alongside.
The ship appeared to be severely damaged, like a Ghost Ship.
Before even boarding, Ye Lingyue heard a constant banging sound coming from the direction of the cabin.
Inside the cabin, the heavily injured Xu Ce was bound with several arm-thick iron chains, and several crew members were similarly restrained.
Xu Ce’s face was ashen, emanating a heavy Resentful Qi.
His appearance was very similar to those townsfolk in the shrine, but the Resentful Qi on him was obviously more intense.
"What exactly did you encounter on the Han River? If you truly want to save him, you must tell me everything in detail."
Ye Lingyue frowned deeply.
Luo Qianche bit her lip, refusing to say more.
"Let me explain, during the day we..."
The Merfolk King began speaking slowly.
While Ye Lingyue, Di Shen, and others were heading to the dock, Guangzi, who had stayed behind at the shrine, had already learned some things about Ye Lingyue from Qin Xiaochuan.
"Actually, I only know so much, since I’ve known Sixth Sister-in-law and Sixth Brother for only two to three years. However, Guangzi, you don’t seem to like Sixth Brother much. Actually, he’s someone who’s tough on the outside but soft on the inside. He and Sixth Sister-in-law have experienced many life and death trials that are beyond our comprehension. Their relationship has been tested multiple times. Sixth Brother considers Sixth Sister-in-law more important than his own life. I seldom admire anyone, but Sixth Brother is one of the few people I sincerely respect."
Qin Xiaochuan scratched his head. Although he was not particularly sharp, he sensed the underlying tension between Guangzi and Sixth Brother.
"Hmph, I won’t acknowledge him as my brother-in-law anyway." Guangzi snorted.
"Brother-in-law?"
Qin Xiaochuan was puzzled.
"You wouldn’t understand even if I explained."
Guangzi sighed, having spent time with Di Shen, he realized that Di Shen was genuinely attentive towards his sister.
Even at his own provocations, though Di Shen was infuriated, he tolerated them for his sister’s sake.
This feeling wasn’t unfamiliar to Guangzi.
He remembered his father and mother interacting in the same way.
"Ugh, Ye Lingguang, you’re swaying too easily. How can that scoundrel compare to Father? No, I have to test him. Unless he passes my test, I will never acknowledge him as my brother-in-law."
In his mind, the little version of Ye Lingguang was cheering itself on.
"It’s getting late; let’s go have a look ahead. Senior Sister Wan Yun and Huang Jun might not be able to handle it alone."
Guangzi got up and headed inside with Qin Xiaochuan.
Inside the shrine, the townsfolk seemed to be asleep.
Senior Sister Wan Yun sat by the campfire, while Huang Jun was nowhere to be seen.
"How are the townsfolk?"
Guangzi walked over and patted Senior Sister Wan Yun on the shoulder.
Without a word, Senior Sister Wan Yun suddenly turned around, her face pale with greenish aura lingering between her brow, her eyes bloodshot as she bit into Guangzi’s hand.
Startled, Guangzi felt sudden pain in his hand, noticing a bluish wound on the back of his hand.
"Careful."
Qin Xiaochuan was shocked, he punched Senior Sister Wan Yun, shielding Guangzi behind him, but at that moment, Huang Jun emerged from behind him.
Huang Jun also had a sinister grin, with a greenish aura between his brows, as he struck towards Qin Xiaochuan’s face.
"Guangzi, follow me."
Qin Xiaochuan, both anxious and angry, didn’t wish to fight against his suddenly irrational former companions. He swiftly kicked off the ground.
Punches rained down like torrential rain as he leapt up with the injured Guangzi in tow.
Qin Xiaochuan and Guangzi quickly retreated from the shrine, leaving behind the frenzied beast-like howls.
"Guangzi, are you okay?"
After evading pursuit, Qin Xiaochuan hastily checked on Guangzi.
Guangzi’s face was covered in a thin film of sweat, his once rosy complexion now growing pale.
Looking at Guangzi’s palm, he noticed two teeth marks, his entire hand turning a bluish-gray.
"Qin Xiaochuan, quickly find Ling Yue, I’ll be fine on my own." Guangzi glanced at his hand, cursing inwardly.
This Resentful Qi was more harmful to someone with his Divine Body than to most people and needed to be removed quickly.
He needed to find a way to send Qin Xiaochuan away so he could use the Medical Essence Divine Needle for treatment.
Without a word, Qin Xiaochuan suddenly bent down, drawing the poison blood from Guangzi’s wound with his mouth.
"!" Guangzi shuddered, his face, previously devoid of color, turned bright red.
This this this! What’s this big, strong, but simple-minded idiot doing!
"Guangzi, don’t be afraid, I’m here, everything will be alright." Qin Xiaochuan cleaned the wound on Guangzi’s hand, revealing a sincere smile.
"You idiot, you’ll get poisoned, you’ll turn into a Water Ghost! Are you stupid? Didn’t your mom tell you the first reaction in situations like this is to call 110? Ugh, I’m so flustered because of you, at times like this, you should find a professional."
Guangzi was so frustrated he almost wanted to smack Qin Xiaochuan to death.
He could cure the Resentful Qi himself, but now it would be Qin Xiaochuan getting poisoned instead.
