Chapter 1274 - 762: Uncharacteristic Feng Tianzhi
Chapter 1274 - 762: Uncharacteristic Feng Tianzhi
Since moving to Ludong, this has been the busiest day for the Luo Family.
Old Sir Luo, Grandpa Liu, and Granny Liu sat together, and their ages were not that different. Thus, when talking about matters of the farmland, reminiscing about days in the countryside, or recalling their youth... they transitioned from initial polite conversations to warm familiarity, chatting closer by the minute.
Liu Yumei also came along with Grandpa and Granny. At the moment, she was sitting with Luo Ye, Wen Su, Lu Qingqing, and Feng Tianzhi in a corner of the living room.
From the moment she stepped into this large courtyard, she felt as if she were in a dream, and she hadn’t quite woken up yet. She guessed that Luo Ye’s background was not simple, but she never imagined it was complex to such an extent.
Judging from how Grandpa and Granny are now with Luo Ye, did she unintentionally become like a sister to the governor’s daughter?
Quietly, she pinched herself once, then again, and accidentally locked eyes with Little Seagull across from her, feeling a sense of amusement! Was it just a trick of the mind, or had she truly glimpsed laughter in the eyes of that little creature!
Was she being laughed at by a bird?
Liu Yumei dejectedly lowered her head. It was indeed different in the governor’s household; even their pets seem smarter than others. Look at that big, fat dog, hugging its owner’s calf and listening to the conversations like a child with interest!
Of course, whether it understands or not, that’s another matter. Regardless, the expression on the fat dog shows it is listening attentively!
My goodness, she clearly hasn’t seen much, never encountering a household that raises animals so mischievous and elf-like...
"Still not adapted yet?" Luo Ye amusedly nudged the wooden Liu Yumei, "It’s not that I intentionally didn’t tell you all, I just worried if I said something earlier, you wouldn’t have come."
"Really, if you had told me earlier, I wouldn’t have had the guts to come even if beaten." Liu Yumei glanced at Grandpa and Granny, then stuck out her tongue, "They’re adjusting quickly, chatting up a storm with Grandpa Luo."
Luo Ye chuckled lightly, "You overthink things; think less, and you won’t feel so nervous."
Liu Yumei hesitantly asked, "Luoluo, Qianqian’s family..."
Luo Ye understood her confusion and answered directly, "Qianqian’s family is an ordinary working-class family."
"I’m sorry, Luoluo, I initially thought you all achieved your positions because of your family background. Now, I realize I was wrong." Liu Yumei quickly apologizes.
"Of course you were wrong. Ye’er achieved today’s success entirely through her own hard work, and it has nothing to do with family background.
You could even say that if it weren’t for this family situation, she might have advanced even quicker." Chatting with Wen Su, Feng Tianzhi timely expressed his dissatisfaction with Liu Yumei’s doubt towards Luo Ye.
"I’m sorry, I’m really sorry." Earlier, Luo Ye had introduced Feng Tianzhi as her captain, which made him seem like a major leader to Liu Yumei. Feeling flustered and unsure how to explain, she looked to Luo Ye for help, "Luoluo..."
Before Luo Ye could speak, Feng Tianzhi explained first, "I mean no harm; I just can’t stand it when others look down on Little Ye’er. As long as you recognize Little Ye’er correctly, I won’t hold any prejudice against you."
Originally just dealing with Feng Tianzhi, Wen Su’s eyes filled with amusement, "This is the best, most resonant thing I’ve heard today. Wen Su, I’m straightforward, not one for pretenses. Previously, the Feng Family owed the Wen Family.
In the future, I’ll do my utmost to help protect Little Ye’er’s smooth development alongside you all. She can’t be harmed by those unnecessary things..."
"Hey, hey, hey..." Listening to Young Master Feng’s increasingly outlandish comments and seeing Lu Qingqing and Liu Yumei’s surprised expressions, Luo Ye quickly interrupted Feng Tianzhi, "Captain Feng, please, don’t overthink it. There aren’t that many people wanting to harm me. I’m not an overly susceptible victim either!"
"Scared?" Feng Tianzhi raised an eyebrow, his eyes full of amusement, "Little Ye’er, if you’re scared, it means you like me a little, which shows my efforts are working."
"You..." Even Luo Ye, with her sharp wit, didn’t know what to say.
Liu Yumei couldn’t help but quietly ask, "Luoluo, is he pursuing you?"
"I refuse to answer that question."
"I’ll answer. You’re right. I am pursuing her. Miss Liu, do you think I’m worthy of Little Ye’er?" Feng Tianzhi said as he stood up and took a few steps, then sat down again, "So, how about it?"
"Pretty... pretty good." Liu Yumei, unfamiliar with such a situation, could only stammer in response to his question.
"Ignore him. I’ve noticed..." Luo Ye turned her gaze to Feng Tianzhi, "You seem to have gotten retrogressive, not sure what kind of shock you received. When I first knew you, you seemed just as unreliable."
Feng Tianzhi spread his hands wide, "Life is but a few decades. What’s the point in being pretentious? I speak my mind. The greatest regret in life is having unspoken thoughts when sudden events occur."
"What’s the real issue?" Luo Ye scrutinized him, "Your personality doesn’t seem so pessimistic. If you truly trust us, then tell us the truth."
"Nothing." Feng Tianzhi’s eyes flickered before recovering their unruly look as he gazed at Luo Ye, "Luoluo, remember, behind you, there will always be me."
"Mr. Feng, none of us sitting here is an outsider. Regardless of what’s going on, we should help each other." Wen Su furrowed his brow slightly.
"There’s really nothing. I’ve got some matters to attend to, so I’ll take my leave now." Feng Tianzhi said as he stood up.
"Xiao Feng, it’s almost time for dinner; why don’t you stay and eat before leaving?" Wen Xin came out of the kitchen and tried to stop him.
"Auntie, thank you, but your family reunion, I really shouldn’t intrude. Today, your and Grandpa’s approval of me truly made me happy.
Though both you and Grandpa rejected me, I know it’s for Little Ye’er’s sake, and our intent is the same—I sincerely admire you." Feng Tianzhi bowed to Wen Xin, greeted Grandpa Luo, and quickly left the Luo Family.
"Something’s not right with him." Wen Su nudged Luo Ye, "Ye’er, regardless, he’s never harmed you. In crucial moments, he gave up everything to help you.
Maybe he didn’t feel comfortable sharing when we were all here, go out and ask him. Whatever happens, don’t let yourself regret it later."
