Chapter 130 Alan Gets Married
Chapter 130 Alan Gets Married
After the dinner, everyone dispersed, still slightly tipsy. Zhang Zhi returned home, sat on the sofa, and recalled the discussion at the dinner table about joining Wang Ping's team. She shook her head slightly, indicating that she wouldn't consider it.
"That Wang Ping is indeed a man who can endure hardships. But if I work with his team, I will definitely not be able to live as relaxed and happy as before! I have to work very hard every day, and I can't stand such a hard life. So, I decided not to go." Zhang Zhi said as she picked up a glass of water on the table and took a sip.
She thought to herself, "I still have some time, so why not contact that friend our boss recommended to me? If they don't have to work so hard for sales, I can still stay at my current insurance company."
"As long as I can sell one insurance policy every month, meet the minimum performance requirements, and avoid being fired by the company, I'm fine. After all, my husband is the breadwinner at home, so my first priority is to take good care of the children. As for work, as long as I can keep my job, it's not worth working so hard to earn that little money."
Meanwhile, Zhang Jing carefully studied Ah Chen's proposal at home. However, as she read, the anticipation on her face gradually faded, replaced by disappointment and resignation. Clearly, the proposal hadn't piqued her interest.
"Oh, it seems that I have to think of a new way to deal with Achen's matter. This plan does not meet my expectations at all, and I don't know what to do next..." Zhang Jing sighed, put the plan aside, and fell into deep thought.
Alan's wedding went on as planned, and Zhang Jing and Achen brought Naituanzi to the feast. Naituanzi was delighted and dressed up beautifully. Zhang Jing even placed a red "?" mark between her eyebrows for good luck. She was so happy that she stared at herself in the mirror.
The wedding took place at a hotel, with Alan and Gao Wei welcoming guests at the door. Alan, in her wedding dress and makeup, looked stunning, while Gao Wei stood tall and handsome. The two complemented each other beautifully, leaving Zhang Jing feeling lost. She remembered that she never had a wedding. But she couldn't express it, and it was a regret she felt.
Seeing Zhang Jing and her family, Alan happily came over to greet them. Gao Wei also came to greet Achen. Everyone exchanged pleasantries. Zhang Jing noticed Alan's slightly protruding belly and whispered, "Are you pregnant?" Alan raised a finger to his lips and said "Shh." Zhang Jing understood and gave Gao Wei a thumbs-up, "Handsome boy, great!"
Gao Wei smiled and invited them in, "Jingjie, Brother Chen is here, please go in and find a seat." Zhang Jing took Achen to pay the red envelope and then went in together.
"Ah Jing, here!" As soon as I entered, I heard someone calling me and standing up to wave. It was Director Chen. I hurriedly took Ah Chen and walked over.
"You're here so early?" Zhang Jing looked over and saw many familiar faces. Aunt Zhuang and her husband, Da Zhuang, and others from their old workplace. Everyone greeted them warmly, and Naituanzi was even given a specially designed baby chair. She wasn't shy, and she quickly charmed everyone at the table. Even the people at the next table offered her candy. She unzipped her small bag and put it in, and the adults didn't seem to mind.
Aunt Zhuang spoke enthusiastically to Zhang Jing. She asked how many months she was pregnant and when she was due. She shared some tips, and Zhang Jing realized that after middle age, people tend to deal with trivial matters. Yet, they still enjoy doing them.
Director Chen explained that he was the referral agent and would be giving a speech later. It was his first time acting as one, and he hadn't expected it to be a success. "Just thinking about it makes me feel so accomplished!"
Someone came over and asked Director Chen to sit up front. It turned out to be Alan's siblings. Aunt Zhuang pointed out to Zhang Jing that Alan's siblings, nephews, and nieces were sitting at two tables full of Hong Kong people. "I heard they haven't all arrived yet," Aunt Zhuang said, sounding quite well-informed.
"Who's coming from Gao Wei's family?" Zhang Jing asked curiously. "His parents, two brothers, and a sister," Aunt Zhuang said. "I heard Alan's family gave Gao Wei's parents a 20 yuan betrothal gift!"
Zhang Jing was surprised. "No way?" Aunt Zhuang said, "Of course not. In our country, the etiquette for marrying into a family is the same as for marrying out. Both require a gift and a wedding. Some even require a ride on a flower bridge and a long carriage, with firecrackers blasting everywhere. It's a lively and exciting occasion."
"Besides the 20 yuan betrothal gift, is there anything else? Like the three golds, a car, or a house?" Zhang Jing continued to ask, "It seems Gao Wei is not stupid. He must be marrying Alan to change his status."
Aunt Zhuang said, "You don't need to say it, both sides understand. Some things will only be revealed after a while. The house is ready, and we will live with the old man anyway."
The wedding program was set, and friends, family, and colleagues all raised their glasses. Zhang Jing's glass could only contain plain water, and she was responsible for making sure that Naituanzi was well fed. She only ate a few bites herself. Ah Chen and Da Zhuang sat together, occasionally chatting. "Miss Zuo didn't come?" Zhang Jing realized belatedly.
Aunt Zhuang said, "She's pregnant just like you, and she's afraid of disturbing the fetus. She's staying home to take care of it."
"Da Zhuang is so amazing! He actually had a second child. It's okay if he couldn't carry the baby." Aunt Zhuang wanted to say something but couldn't help herself. She whispered to Zhang Jing: "It is said that Xiao Zuo's second child is not Da Zhuang's."
"Don't spread rumors without evidence!" Zhang Jing quickly stopped Aunt Zhuang and curiously asked, "Who spread it? Even someone knows about this?" Aunt Zhuang rolled her eyes at Zhang Jing and dropped another bombshell: "Someone said it was Da Zhuang's father's!"
Zhang Jing froze for a moment. Damn her intuition! Miss Zuo was truly audacious, but why hadn't she kept the news secret?
"Cheers!" Milkball raised his orange juice and stood up from the stool, launching a new round of challenge to the people at the table. Everyone laughed and raised their glasses to Milkball, "Cheers!" "Cheers!"
Zhang Jing quickly sat her down, watched her take a sip, and then wanted to stand up and toast. Knowing she was just playing around, she warned her to eat something before continuing. Aunt Zhuang smiled and said, "It's rare to see such a small child these days. It's really a joy to see one. She's so pretty."
The others at the table teased her, "Can I take a picture with you?" She agreed, and everyone started taking photos with her. The chubby kid at the next table joined in the fun, chasing after her, calling her "little sister," and seeing her happy. Zhang Jing asked Ah Chen to keep an eye on the child while she chatted with Aunt Zhuang.
"Could what you said be groundless? How could Xiao Zuo be so bold?" Zhang Jing was puzzled.
"Why would I lie to you? Alan and the others saw it when they went to Dazhuang's house." Aunt Zhuang said firmly.
"When? Why haven't I heard Achen mention it?"
"Achen didn't go because you were busy. It was Alan and Xiaoxiang who went. They came back and said that Dazhuang's father was more like his father than Dazhuang.
. "
"It turns out to be a blind guess! Da Zhuang has a child and can't help, and his mother is mentally unstable. Xiao Zuo can't take care of it alone, and the nanny needs someone to look after him. If Da Zhuang's father doesn't care, who knows who will get his grandson's property!" Zhang Jing explained.
"That makes sense!" Aunt Zhuang looked at Da Zhuang and saw that he ate without even looking up. "It's not worth having a son-in-law like this, no matter how rich you are. It's too tiring."
Turning around, he thought of Zhang Jing: "Sorry, I didn't mean you! Don't take it to heart. You're smart, and Chen is so lucky."
Zhang Jing waved her hand and said nonchalantly, "We're not in the same unit now, so I can't help him with his work. I don't know how long he can keep doing this. He'll have to rely on you old sisters to look after him. You don't have to keep a close eye on him. If others bully him, please help him. If anything happens, just give me a call. I'll be very grateful. Come, Sister Zhuang, I'll toast you with water instead of wine!"
Aunt Zhuang smiled brightly upon hearing this: "Okay, I'll take your kind offer." After finishing her drink, she said to Zhang Jing: "Ah Jing, don't worry. We've been colleagues for many years. I'll protect Ah Chen for you. No one at work can bully him. My husband and Gao Wei aren't just there to eat for nothing either. Don't worry so much. Just take good care of your baby!"
Zhang Jing knew that some things should be left alone. She breathed a sigh of relief when she realized the rumor mill didn't involve Ah Chen. Looking at the newlyweds toasting at each table, then at Da Zhuang, Zhang Jing couldn't help but wonder if she should warn Ah Lan or Gao Wei. And then there was the culprit, Zuo Panxue, who had to stir up trouble for no reason!
If I tell her, I might get into trouble! It's a dilemma. But if I don't tell her, I can't bear it. Sometimes Zhang Jing also hates her own personality.
The guests were all happy, and the newlyweds were also delighted. Zhang Jing finally decided to say nothing and let the matter rest on her own.
But she didn't expect that there were some things that she couldn't avoid just by pretending not to see them.
