Chapter 36 The Villa on the Mountain (7)
Chapter 36 The Villa on the Mountain (7)
Gu Shijiu remained silent and continued eating.
"Manman, don't you remember me?" Su Mu's face showed a somewhat sad and self-deprecating smile.
"Huh?" Gu Shijiu looked up. "You're talking to me."
Oh, so this is a character name, she realized.
"You've been following this gravedigger, how come you've lost your memory?" Su Mu curled his fingers into a claw and suddenly attacked Shi Qi.
Gu Shijiu stopped him, only then realizing something was wrong: "You're not Su Mu."
“Manman, I have kept you in this tomb for nearly a thousand years. I never thought that when I saw you again, you would be with someone else.”
Su Mu was not angry even though his attack missed.
"I thought you came here specifically to bring me food, but it turns out you're just here to cause trouble." Gu Shijiu said, somewhat displeased.
Su Mu put away his fan: "Let's eat first."
Seeing that Gu Shijiu had almost emptied the plate, he smiled slightly, stuck the spoon into his eye socket, and with a sudden twist of his hand, gouged out his right eye and threw it into the plate.
"Since Manman didn't invite me, I'll just have to eat something else."
Su Mu remained calm, switched to his fork, picked up the eyeball in front of him, put it whole into his mouth, and began to chew slowly.
Gu Shijiu was shocked. "Is this a lunatic?"
Shi Qi turned his back, not wanting to look anymore; he was afraid he would throw up.
Su Mu made a slight popping sound, followed by a sticky crunching sound as the lens rubbed against his teeth.
Gu Shijiu looked at the food she hadn't finished eating, then at Su Mu who was enjoying his meal, and thought that the other person's food seemed more delicious.
"Can I have this?" She pointed to Su Mu's other eyeball, "It smells so good."
Su Mu readily agreed: "If Manman wants it, then of course we have to give it to her."
This time it wasn't so bloody. He lowered his head, and his other eyeball fell directly into Gu Shi's wine bowl.
It was skin and flesh still attached, with many blood vessels and neurons stuck to it.
Gu Shijiu waved his hand, and the eyeballs turned into specks of light and disappeared.
It's a bit of a shame that although this method is faster, it doesn't look as elegant as the other method.
After Su Mu finished eating the eyeball, the flesh and blood from his face and body fell onto the plate one after another.
After eating the upper and lower body, only a skull remained on the table.
The space between his eyes and nose turned into three deep black holes, staring straight at Gu Shijiu: "Manman, are you full?"
Gu Shijiu was somewhat conflicted; the energy contained in those eyes just now was truly immense.
One can imagine how much energy it would take to swallow a whole person.
But since they came specifically to deliver food, wouldn't it be wrong to eat them?
When in doubt, Gu Shijiu would ask Shi Qi for advice, tugging at Shi Qi's sleeve: "This person smells so good."
Shi Qi turned around and, instead of seeing Su Mu, saw a skull: "Holy crap, what's going on?"
"Oh, he's eaten himself like this," Gu Shijiu suggested. "Instead of him eating himself, why don't I eat him instead?"
Shi Qi's pupils dilated in shock: "Is he Gandhi?"
Gu Shijiu didn't recognize him: "Who is Gandhi?"
"They were the Indians who once suggested to the Nationalist government that since the Japanese liked to kill people, they should just stand there and let them kill until they were scared."
Shi Qi summarizes this Mahatma's famous remarks.
Gu Shijiu exclaimed in astonishment: "This person is also sick."
Su Mu spoke softly, "I ate a bit too much today, is that alright?"
Gu Shijiu shook her head: "Eating a lot is fine, but if you could share some with me..."
Su Mu was indeed generous; he simply scooped out his own brain with a spoon and handed it to Gu Shijiu.
It's crystal clear and quite pretty.
Gu Shijiu didn't mind that Su Mu had just used the spoon; he simply wiped it with his hand, and his mind disappeared into thin air.
Soon, Su Mu had eaten himself until he was left with only one mouth.
Seeing that there wasn't much left to eat, Gu Shijiu directly saw the guest out: "I'm full today, is there anything else?"
He opened and closed his mouth, saying, "I'll come see you another day."
He then performed a magic trick, creating another Su Mu out of thin air.
This scene, which violated the law of conservation of energy, greatly shocked Shi Qi. Fortunately, he was not a physicist, otherwise he might have been so frightened that he committed suicide.
Long after Su Mu left, the ghosts in the cemetery remained trembling with fear, too afraid to move.
“He is the Ghost King,” Gu Shijiu asserted. “His energy tastes exactly the same as the energy from the tooth that flew away.”
After consuming the Ghost King's energy, she suffered from stomach pain for several hours before finally digesting it.
Shi Qi knew all along that it wasn't the original Su Mu, but she never expected it to be the Ghost King, who somehow managed to take over Su Mu's body.
The next morning, before Gu Shijiu and Shi Qi had even gotten out of bed, someone knocked on the door of the tin-roofed house.
The knocking sounds were very regular, each knock consisting of three segments of equal length.
Gu Shijiu pulled up the live surveillance video from Shi Qi's phone and found that there was no one outside, but there was a constant knocking on the door.
"Shi Qi, is the surveillance camera broken?" The tomb keeper lives alone here, so he has installed a video doorbell on his door.
"It's probably not a person who's come." Shi Qi had already guessed who it was.
Gu Shijiu opened the door with a puzzled look and saw a man in a suit standing at the door. It was Su Mu, or rather, the Ghost King.
I clearly didn't see anyone on the surveillance footage just now.
Gu Shijiu quickly closed the door and checked the surveillance footage again; there really was nothing there.
The door was opened, and the Ghost King appeared.
I closed the door again and checked the security camera footage, but there was still no one there.
The door was opened, and the Ghost King reappeared.
Gu Shijiu was busy doing this repeatedly.
Faced with this brainless behavior, the Ghost King outside gradually lost his patience: "Manman, you weren't this naughty before."
Gu Shijiu now realized the person was talking about her: "Mind your own business."
The Ghost King's pupils suddenly turned white, as if covered by a layer of iris. He pressed down on the door that was about to close again: "Manman, let's talk."
Gu Shijiu didn't think she had anything to talk about with the Ghost King: "We're not familiar with each other."
The Ghost King seemed even more confident today than yesterday. He pulled Gu Shijiu down to sit and began to tell stories.
As for Shi Qi standing next to him, he didn't care.
He was just a somewhat capable tomb keeper, bound by the promise of his ancestors to work in this cemetery for generations.
Gu Shijiu loves listening to stories.
She didn't really like the story the Ghost King told; it wasn't original and was rather boring.
"A thousand years ago, Manman and I were both children of noble families. We were childhood sweethearts and secretly developed feelings for each other."
However, due to family reasons, they were unable to be together.
I had thought Manman would marry into another powerful clan and receive their protection, but I never expected them to give her away to the leader of a foreign tribe that had invaded the Central Plains.
By the time I found out, Manman had already died.
I learned evil magic and stole Manman's corpse, hoping that one day she would wake up.
Later, I was hunted down by Taoist priests from the Central Plains. Those Taoist priests back then were far more powerful than those cowardly disciples and followers of today.
I fled overseas and hid in a local vampire family...
