Chapter 526 [Empire] Vine
Chapter 526 [Empire] Vine
At my command, the team members sprang into action, their gear glowing faintly, enhancing their combat effectiveness. Qianmo followed closely beside me, his powers poised to unleash, manipulating the surrounding vegetation to repel the mutated vines. Our team's movements were swift and precise, as if they were already in perfect sync.
Yet, I knew this was only the beginning. Those mutated vines seemed to possess only strength, but their reactions were incredibly swift, as if they were already controlled by some kind of intelligence. The angle and force of each vine's attack seemed meticulously calculated, with a clear purpose: to trap us and slow our progress.
Suddenly, a huge vine hit one of the team members. Before he could react, he was entangled by the vine and pulled into the ground. The other team members hurriedly fired, trying to break the vine, but the vine was extremely tough, as if it was wrapped in some hard shell and could not be torn apart.
"Save him!" I shouted.
Without hesitation, Qianmo wielded his supernatural power, instantly directing the surrounding plants towards him, attempting to cut through the vines and rescue the trapped team members. However, the vines became even more twisted under his control, quickly pulling the trapped people into the ground, as if a huge suction force was waiting below.
"We can't save him!" Qianmo said calmly, a trace of pain in his eyes. "This vine is deeply rooted in the ground and can't be torn apart at all."
I gritted my teeth, a deep feeling of powerlessness rising within me. My teammates' lives hung in the balance amidst these vines, and I was unable to mount any effective counterattack. Despite my efforts to concentrate all our strength, the vines continued to grow, and our formation gradually collapsed. The enemy seemed to know us all, and their attacks grew more ferocious.
At that moment, the giant vines suddenly stopped. They hovered in the air, as if sensing the presence of something. I instinctively raised my head and looked forward.
There, a figure, much larger than any plant we had seen before, slowly emerged. It resembled a tree, yet was far larger than any other. Its trunk was covered in black cracks, and its branches and leaves were as hard as iron rods, like the flesh and blood of some monster.
My heart sank. Clearly, this was the core of the ruins. This massive plant was no ordinary combat plant; it seemed like some kind of intelligent being. Its branches and leaves swayed gently in the air, as if observing each of our movements. The chill and stench of decay in the air grew stronger, as if the plant's aura had permeated every inch of the air.
"We can't beat it!" Qianmo whispered, his tone heavier than ever before.
I took a deep breath, realizing that if we continued our head-on confrontation, we had little chance of victory. This massive plant seemed to have transcended mere combat power, perhaps a monstrous fusion of multiple powers. We couldn't simply break through its defenses as we had before.
"We need to find a way to circumvent it," I thought quickly, "lead it into the trap we've set."
Qianmo nodded. His ability can control the growth and shape of the surrounding plants. If we can make clever use of this, we may be able to fight against this huge plant.
"I'm going to give it a try." Qianmo whispered, "You divert its attention."
I nodded and waved for the team to disperse, each seeking shelter and preparing for the next counterattack. Qianmo began to manipulate the surrounding plants. With a wave of his hands, the vines around him instantly became extremely active, growing and twisting rapidly, as if preparing for the upcoming battle.
At the same time, I stepped forward, deliberately drawing all attention to myself. My powers were already increasing, radiating an unprecedented surge of energy. I raised my weapon, pointed it at the massive plant, and unleashed a powerful wave of energy. The wave stirred the air and struck the plant's branches, instantly shattering them.
As I expected, the plant's attention was completely drawn to me. Its roots shook violently, its huge trunk tilted towards me, and its branches waved rapidly, as if seeking revenge in anger.
"Now!" I growled.
Qianmo waved his hands, and several vines whipped out like lightning, fiercely wrapping around the giant plant's trunk. The cracks in the trunk healed instantly, and the vines bound the plant tightly. As Qianmo controlled it, the giant plant's movements began to slow. It seemed as if its core strength was being restrained, preventing it from reacting quickly.
"Grab it!" I yelled, rushing towards the base of the plant.
Seeing this, the other team members immediately followed suit, concentrating their firepower on the plant's roots. Each energy wave emitted vibrated like thunder, aiming directly at the plant's weak spot.
"That's it!" I closed my eyes and prayed that our attack would be successful.
With a resounding bang, the massive plant finally collapsed in its violent struggle, completely losing its ability to move. The stench of decay in the air gradually dissipated, and the surrounding vines slowly relaxed as they lost their dominant power.
We breathed a sigh of relief, but I knew this victory was only temporary. Even as the battle ended, I didn't feel the relief of victory. It seemed there were even more powerful secrets waiting to be uncovered behind those mutated plants, and this battle was only the beginning.
"There will be stronger enemies." I muttered to myself as I looked at the fallen plants.
