Chapter 434 [Empire] Lantern Festival Chapter Cute Little Trouble
Chapter 434 [Empire] Lantern Festival Chapter Cute Little Trouble
I sipped the last of the soup with relish, then contentedly put down my bowl, preparing to join the queue for another. The tangyuan (glutinous rice balls) at this shop are truly addictive. The broth is rich, the skin is thin and the filling is tender. Especially the plump, meat-filled tangyuan, which melts in your mouth and warms your heart. Just as I was about to get back in line, I caught a familiar sight out of the corner of my eye—Lin Hao's sister.
That little girl's laughter was always so cheerful, as if her smile could infect the whole world. She wore a pink down jacket and a large, plush scarf. She held a string of candied haws, her mouth smeared with syrup, and a smile of complete satisfaction on her face. She quickly approached me, her eyes widening as she stared at the glutinous rice balls in my hand, as if realizing I was about to order another bowl.
"Brother, why are you eating again?" Her voice was full of mischief and coquettishness. "You only know how to eat. Why didn't you take me with you today?"
I smiled helplessly: "You only know how to eat. Aren't we having candied haws today? Why, aren't you satisfied with the glutinous rice balls?"
She stuck out her tongue playfully, her mouth still sticky with candy: "Oh, how can candied haws be better than glutinous rice balls! But you always eat them alone, and I feel so lonely!" She flirted with me, squeezed in, and still yelled: "Brother, I want to eat glutinous rice balls too!"
I shook my head slightly and said with a teasing smile, "Okay, eat it. I'll bring you another bowl, but remember to share it. Don't eat it all by yourself."
She jumped up with joy when she heard it. "Really? Thank you, brother! I will definitely share this time and promise not to take advantage of others!"
She turned and ran toward the front of the group, and I slowly followed her to the back, a warm feeling welling up inside me. This little girl always brought me unexpected joy. Although she was Lin Hao's sister, she was like a small bond between us, always making me smile.
Standing in the line, I was lost in thought, contemplating my future. Leaving the capital once again, heading for a new environment, to meet my third foster parent—Ye Qing. I knew these changes were inevitable, but a heavy feeling settled within me. Just then, Lin Hao's sister's voice brought me back to reality: "Brother, tangyuan! We want tangyuan!" She turned her head and made a face at me, blinking, as if she didn't want to miss a single second of this joyful moment.
I chuckled and nodded, feeling slightly relieved.
I suddenly decided to create a little trouble for myself and Lin Hao's sister. Without saying hello, I quietly "kidnapped" her and took her to the amusement park.
This kid has a real soft spot for the amusement park's various rides, especially the pirate ship. As soon as we arrived, she pulled me toward the pirate ship, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Brother! Brother! This is my favorite! It's so thrilling! Come play with me!" she said, tugging at my hand as if it wouldn't count until she'd ridden it for the hundredth time.
I smiled helplessly, watching her face brimming with excitement, and decided to play with her for a while. Once on the pirate ship, as the boat rocked wildly, I could hear her screaming with joy, like a carefree child. Every time the boat reached its highest point, she beamed like a bird in the sky, completely oblivious to the wind in her face. Every time we returned to the starting point, she'd coquettishly say to me, "Brother, play again! Play again! This is so much fun!"
So, I played with her over and over again. Time slipped by unnoticed, and I couldn't help but laugh. Lin Hao must have been scratching his head anxiously, unable to find her anywhere, probably not knowing where this little girl had gone. I was waiting to see his panicked expression when he realized the little girl was gone, and my mood began to lighten up a little.
After a while, it was getting dark, and the little girl finally got tired of playing. She sat down beside me and pouted, "Brother, I'm so tired. I've been playing for so long. I need to rest." Her face was flushed, but she still had a satisfied smile on her face. I picked her up and walked out of the amusement park, thinking that when Lin Hao came to find her, he would definitely look amused.
I decided to take the girl out for something to eat first, then slowly walk back and wait for Lin Hao to come find us. "Little girl, go have some ice cream first and relax." I said softly, watching her nod obediently and follow me to a nearby stall.
At that moment, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. This simple little joy was what I had been avoiding—a carefree life, like an ordinary person, without constant vigilance and too many responsibilities. But how long could it last?
While I was muttering to myself, "How could Lin Hao be so slow to find the girl?", I leisurely took her on a tour of the boutique. Each trinket was exquisitely crafted, the lights were warm, and the air was filled with the fragrance of flowers and a touch of perfume. The girl spent a long time selecting, her eyes sparkling with excitement, as if she couldn't let go of each trinket.
"Brother, this is so cute!" She whispered, picking up a small silver rabbit earring, her eyes sparkling, "I want this! Can I have it?"
I glanced at the price tag and felt a pang of helplessness. Although it wasn't cheap, it wasn't an unacceptable amount either. Seeing her expectant look, I nodded and said, "Okay, let's buy one."
She happily ran to the cashier. I followed her, secretly suspecting that Lin Hao must be panicking. He'd probably been asking around, searching every corner of the park, but still couldn't find his little sister. I wondered what his expression was like right now, but he must be frantic.
The little girl quickly got her new jewelry from the cashier and happily put on the earrings. "Brother, look, I put them on. Aren't they beautiful?"
I looked at her little face, her mouth curled up slightly, revealing a smug smile, and gently touched her head: "It's very beautiful, and it suits you very well."
We stayed in the store for a while longer, and time flew by unnoticed. The little girl was as happy as a grown-up, looking around without any pressure. I noticed that she would occasionally look outside the store, as if waiting for Lin Hao to come find her.
Just as I was about to tease Lin Hao again, I suddenly felt a faint sense of oppression coming from behind. My scalp tingled, and I subconsciously turned around. Sure enough, it was Lin Hao standing at the door, looking at us with a look of helplessness and exasperation.
"You two...really!" Lin Hao paused, walked into the store, and said helplessly, "I say, can't you just call me and tell me where you went?"
I shrugged, looking innocent. "I'm just playing with the little girl. You know, kids love to hang out in these places."
When the little girl saw her brother standing at the door, she immediately ran over and threw herself into his arms, smiling happily: "Brother, I bought earrings! Do they look good?" She excitedly showed the earrings to Lin Hao.
Lin Hao looked at my sister, his mouth twitched, and finally he smiled helplessly: "She looks good, of course she looks good." Then he turned to me, "Can't you take care of her? You didn't even see what happened today and just took her away." As he spoke, he rubbed my sister's hair, as if he wanted to be angry but was unable to refute.
I smiled nonchalantly and said, "I just took her out to play, and she didn't do anything bad. Lin Hao, don't be too nervous." I said slowly, but I felt inexplicably relieved in my heart. It seemed that Lin Hao still felt a little sorry for his sister.
"Alright, alright, I knew you'd say that." Lin Hao sighed, his gaze softening slightly. "Let's go back to your Nightingale." He bent down and picked up his sister. "I don't think you can stay here today. I have to hand you over to your Nightingale."
I chuckled and patted the little girl on the back: "Let's go, go back to find Nightingale, and fulfill Lin Hao's wish." Then, Lin Hao and I left the store together and walked towards Nightingale.
