Chapter 308 [Empire] The game between us.

Nightingale didn't turn around, his back still facing me, as if he was waiting for something calmly. He seemed to have expected me to do this, and even my inadvertent doubts did not escape his calm eyes.

The energy released from the water gun erupted in a burst of shimmering green light, shimmering in the air like tiny, star-like specks of light. A faint yet vibrant light shone down around them. This release of energy was completely different from the previous one. It wasn't as violent or turbulent as before, but rather a calm and delicate release, emanating a sense of balance.

I was stunned. Was I operating it incorrectly? Or... was there some pattern to the output of these energies, exhibiting different effects only under specific conditions?

I looked down at the water gun's status. The energy in the energy tank seemed to be still fully utilized. It seemed that the burst just now was only a partial release of energy, and the remaining energy had not yet been fully activated.

Nightingale slowly turned around, his gaze fixed on the water gun in my hand. There was no surprise in his eyes, only a hint of observation, as if he had known this would happen. "Have you figured it out?" His voice remained relaxed, yet tinged with a familiar thoughtfulness. "These things really aren't as simple as you think."

I remained silent, my water gun continuing to release tiny specks of light. A strange aura hung in the air, as if I could sense the energy behind these specks of light, a force more complex and uncertain than just a superficial calm.

Nightingale's eyes were deep, and he suddenly smiled, taking a few steps closer to me. "It seems you need to spend more time understanding this." He raised an eyebrow, as if he had noticed that I didn't fully grasp the workings of the water gun. "Do you think you can control all energy simply by 'using' it? Just like this thing, any release of energy has its price. In other words, it's your level of understanding that determines what you gain from it."

I bit my lips lightly, feeling a little unwilling, but also a little enlightened.

Sure enough, the operation of anything isn't as simple as it seems. Nightingale didn't give me time to think, but continued, "This isn't a toy, but a tool. The timing, frequency, and method of your use determine its power. And the most important thing is whether you can truly control it."

I looked down at the water gun in my hand. The doubt in my heart had not completely dissipated, but I felt a little more alert. Every word of the nightingale was like a stone thrown into the calm surface of my lake, stirring up layers of ripples.

"Remember, if you want to truly turn these tools into your strength, you have to learn to truly understand them, rather than relying on them to occasionally give you a 'surprise' like you do now." Nightingale's voice came from behind me. He seemed satisfied with my reaction at that moment, and then added lightly: "Don't forget, you released it to avoid being 'blown away', right? But your 'enemies' are far more than these."

I was shocked.

He took out a handful of white ball hair from the space button and stuffed it into Nightingale's hand: "Haven't you always wanted this? Consider it an exchange."

Nightingale looked down at the ball of fur I handed him, seeming a little surprised, yet with a subtle hint of interest. His eyes remained calm, but a faint smile played at the corner of his mouth. "You're quite good at playing games." He took the fur ball in his hand and caressed it casually, as if it were just an ordinary little object. Of course, I knew that he wasn't so relaxed inside.

He placed the ball of fur in his palm, carefully observing the faint luster. "This kind of thing isn't something you can easily get." Nightingale's tone deepened, and he turned the ball of fur between his fingertips, as if trying to capture some subtle fluctuation.

I smiled even wider. "What you want is right here. Doesn't it feel a little off? It's just presented in a different way."

Nightingale's eyes were still fixed on the ball of fur in my hand, the smile on his lips had not faded, but he was obviously speechless about this transaction.

Finally, he raised his eyes and looked at me: "Do you know what this means to me?"

I smiled faintly. "It doesn't matter what it is. What matters is that you finally got some 'reward'." I deliberately emphasized the two words. "But there's no rush. Take your time to experience it. Feel the taste of 'losing money'. It's a good chance to teach you a 'lesson'."

Nightingale withdrew his gaze calmly, seemingly not intending to delve into these topics any further. At that moment, I knew he understood, understood that I wasn't going to let him take control of this easily.

Anyone with a discerning eye could see that I was exchanging a different kind of "feeling" with him. It was no longer a simple confrontation of power, nor a simple exchange of goods. Instead, it allowed me to engage in a more complex dialogue with him, challenging his psychology and his perception of me.

The ball of fur in his hand glowed faintly, a special light that seemed to pierce through all apparent calm, like a potential force accumulating. I could sense the strangeness he inadvertently revealed, and in that moment, Nightingale finally realized that he was not the only one holding the initiative in this relationship.

"You're becoming more and more interesting." Nightingale smiled softly, a hint of teasing in her eyes. "But don't forget, the real 'game' has just begun."

My heart trembled, and I understood the meaning of his words. The game between us.
