Chapter 222 [Empire] Mr. Li
Chapter 222 [Empire] Mr. Li
As the starship slowly landed at the port of the Capital Planet, I descended the gangway with mixed feelings. Looking around, it was just as I'd imagined: the only person waiting for me on the Capital Planet was Mr. Li.
He should be one of Shan Qi's assistants.
Mr. Li was dressed in a neat business suit, standing straight with a perfectly balanced smile on his face. His demeanor was calm and reserved, revealing him to be a well-trained individual.
I walked towards Mr. Li, and he politely extended his hand and shook mine gently.
"Welcome to Capital Planet, Mr. Ruyuan." Mr. Li's voice was gentle yet powerful. "I'm Mr. Shan's assistant. We've been in touch on the computer before. I'll provide you with the necessary assistance in the coming days."
I nodded and talked to him about some key issues in daily life.
I keenly noticed Mr. Li's subtle reaction. Seeing that I didn't mention the matter of his foster parent, Shan Qi, he seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.
It was obvious that he was afraid that I would ask about Shan Qi, which made me even more confused.
I was very clear that the agreement clearly stipulated that I would not disturb Shan Qi, while he would provide me with material assistance.
While nominally a foster relationship, that was indeed the extent of the agreement. The relationship was clear and unambiguous, without excessive emotional entanglements or complex interactions. It was a strange and cold one.
I really don't understand what Mr. Li is worried about. Is he worried that I will upset the balance of the agreement? Or is he worried that Shan Qi will be affected in some way by my presence?
This worry seems a bit excessive. After all, I've always adhered to the agreement and never crossed the line. I haven't even sent him a message, even though I have his contact information, and I don't know if it's private. I'm afraid even if I did send a message, it would be the kind of contact information that an assistant would receive, review, and then report.
Okay, I admit, this feels even more awkward than having an illegitimate child, the kind whose owner doesn't even know about. They're kept in secret, afraid of being discovered, treated like strangers when they meet, and get slapped in the face if they call them dad.
Okay, I was overthinking it hahahaha.
Seeing Mr. Li's expression, I subtly said that I was shy and felt more comfortable living alone. When I said this, Mr. Li's expression was obviously much more relaxed, as if a heavy stone in his heart had finally been lifted.
I thought to myself: You're kidding! I'm not a child anymore. Why would I seek affection from someone so distant from me? And I certainly wouldn't do anything foolish like trying to get something from a tiger. His concern amused me.
However, on the surface I remained calm, just slightly raised the corners of my mouth and revealed a faint smile.
Mr. Li nodded slightly, a gentle smile on his face. "That's good. Mr. Shan is very busy and doesn't want to be disturbed too much. I'm very pleased that you are so sensible."
I smiled softly and responded, "I understand, Mr. Li. I will abide by the agreement and will not cause you any trouble."
Mr. Li's eyes showed a hint of admiration. "You are very smart and sensible. If you need anything on Capital Star, you can always contact me."
"Thank you, Mr. Li. I will take good care of myself." I said calmly.
