Chapter 312 Gin's Astounding Wisdom

Chapter 312 Gin's Astounding Wisdom

"Uh…"

A swarm of gazes converged on them. Men, women, and children of similar appearances put down their tea and toys, their curious eyes filled with a strange sense of dread—as if they were being watched by some naturally hostile species!

Conan's hair stood on end, and he couldn't help but take a half step back.

"You can't back down, Conan, come on~ be more generous~" But the other person was completely oblivious, and kept patting his back to encourage him.

Clearing his throat, Conan forced a smile and puffed out his chest: "Hello uncles and aunts, I'm Conan Edogawa, and I'm in first grade this year!"

Damn it, why is Kuromon so excited?

I was supposed to just give a normal introduction, but suddenly being asked to be "generous" made me feel awkward all over!

A series of subtle taps brought him back to reality: "Auspicious words, more auspicious words!"

"..." The sound was so loud, everyone in the audience heard it!

Bathed in Ran's smiling gaze, Conan's lips trembled. He had no choice but to straighten his back, clasp his hands in a fist and bow to the entire audience: "Wishing everyone... peace and good health!"

"very good!"

After letting go of the corgi, which was about to explode, and allowing it to cool down, Kuromon Haruya bowed and greeted him: "Nice to meet you. I am Kuromon Haruya, the founder and neighbor of the photography studio where Makoto works. I hope you will take good care of me."

"Hanze Zhenren then introduced the others: 'This is the famous detective, Mr. Mouri Kogoro. He lives in the building next to ours and is extremely reliable when it comes to cases.'"

"You flatter me. I am Mori. Please give me your guidance."

"This is Mr. Mori's beloved daughter, Ms. Ran Mori; her friend who accompanied us on this trip, Ms. Sonoko Suzuki; Conan is staying at the Mori family's house for the time being; and you all met Mr. Sami this morning, so there's no need for introductions."

While the group of friends from out of town were greeting him one by one, Master Fanze quickly took a sip of tea and then moved closer to his relatives:

"Everyone, these are my grandmother, my uncle Renzhi, my eldest cousin Renzheng, my second cousin Renshi, my nieces Nühua and Renyin, my nephew Renye, and..."

A plump, grandmotherly-shaped little black boy; a middle-aged little black boy with a strange tuft of curly hair; young black boys, some fat and some thin; and a young little black boy wearing a bow, flowers, and a baseball cap...

'So many, so many little black creatures! For a moment, it felt like the world had been taken over by suspicious little black people.'

All sorts of little black creatures gathered together. Kuromon Haruya opened his bewildered eyes wide, as if he were in a trance for a moment, his brain being roasted in the infinite entanglement of quantum mechanics and the universe.

Asagi picked up the hot tea, took a sip, and, feeling comforted by happiness, couldn't help but sigh, "It's so good to have such a large family around me, don't you think?"

"...What's wrong?"

"No, it's nothing."

Haruya Kuromon shook her head: "But it's true, it's really like you said, especially that lively and cheerful little voice, it reminds me of Ayumi!"

"Lively? You mean Renhua Jiang, right?"

"Ahem, I misspoke." Kuromon Haruya sipped his tea to cover his embarrassment, then reached out and grabbed the busy Hanze beside him. "Hey, Masato. Didn't you say you were going to take us to see the room? Why don't we do it now?"

"Ok?"

"Fanze" scratched his butt and turned around in confusion.

"Excuse me, are you calling me?"

A pair of eyes opened from the overlapping darkness, protesting plaintively: "Mr. Kuromon~ I'm over here! That's my cousin, Hitoshi."

Fanze Zhenren: Stare—

Haruya Kuromon: ^_^

"Mr. Heimen, you don't mean you can't recognize me and my cousin, do you?"

"Hahaha, what a joke! It was just a bit dark, how could I mistake my partner for someone else, haha!"

Before he could finish speaking, he suddenly bent down, picked up his camera, pointed out the window, and excitedly prepared to rush out the door: "Wow! A huge sea lion just flew by! I'm going out to take some pictures, see you later!"

"Wait a minute!"

With a leap, Master Fanze used the movement technique taught by the instructor to its fullest extent, grabbing Heimen Yaoye around the waist!

Kuromon Haruya leaned down and hissed in a low voice, "Why are you reacting so strongly!"

Fanze Zhenren retorted without hesitation: "I don't know about the Conservation King, but if you don't hurry up, you'll really run into the woods to photograph birds!"

Amidst the hustle and bustle, only Asagi Shinobu, with a strand of hair tucked behind his ear, sat demurely to the side, pouring tea.

Conan curiously peeked over his shoulder: "Shopkeeper, what are they doing? Where's Mr. Daoxie?"

"After Mr. Daoxie escorted us back, he took his leave. As for the two of them..." Asagi said frankly, "It was just some childish quarrel."

Kuromon/Fanze: "Huh?"

"Shop owner, come here and explain what you mean by that!"

......

On the second floor, we finally managed to retreat successfully to Fanze Zhenren's room.

After confirming that the door was locked, Yoruichi Kuromon pulled up his sleeves and proudly showed off with a grin: "Look, these are some pretty scary bruises."

"Hiss—Terrible."

"Right~"

After examining the arm, Asagi sighed, "Since it's so serious, you shouldn't have brought so many gifts; the stress will only hinder the healing process."

"It's nothing, just a minor injury. Oh, by the way, here you go!" With that, Kuromon Haruya rummaged in his pocket and tossed a tube of ointment to Hanze. "Aren't we going to that place tonight? The warm and cozy one."

"This is my secret weapon for carrying out a self-inflicted injury scheme. If I eliminate it too early, how can I suppress my rival, Makoto Kyogoku?"

The mere mention of Makoto Kyogoku made the two of them feel a pang of sympathy.

Asano Minoru: "I never expected to encounter such a dangerous person while on vacation investigating. Should I report this to Gin? Will there be an emergency dispatch?"

Collecting information on talents outside the organization is not their responsibility. However, if Kyogoku Makoto's actions later affect the organization and Gin discovers that he knew about it but did not report it, then he will be held responsible again.

But if we report it now, what could have been a pleasant holiday might suddenly end and turn into a dangerous exploration mission.

Fanze lay on the bed, his head resting on his hands, and said wistfully, "Sigh, if only Gin had known about Kyogoku Makoto sooner."

"Yes!"

With a clap of his hands, Kuromon Haruya, supporting Narumi who was caught off guard while he was helping to treat her bruises, excitedly jumped up, then suddenly realized:

"That must be it. Gin might be sending us to get closer to Kyogoku Makoto!"

Fan Ze: "Huh?"

With his playful demeanor gone, Kuromon Haruya reverted to his "Butbel" mode, displaying his usual rationality: "Before coming here, I considered the purpose of this mission. Surely none of us truly believe this mission is Gin's act of kindness?"

The two nodded.

“Executing a mission doesn’t equate to understanding its purpose. If it’s just about investigating Izumo, a few full-time members from the intelligence team would suffice; there’s no need to transfer the rapid response team, which should be stationed in Tokyo handling emergency matters, from so far away. So, working backward from the needs…”

Asagi Narumi pondered: "Conversely, this means that Gin believes the mission's force requirements can only be met by dispatching our entire group."

“That’s right.” Kuromon Haruya agreed and added, “I originally thought that there was some enemy base in Izumo that needed to be cleared out, but Mr. Hanzawa’s casual remark just now changed my mind.”

Seeing the two lost in thought, Kuromon Haruya put his hands on his hips and looked out the window, his voice revealing complex emotions—a mix of weariness, admiration, and longing:

"Of course, this is just my rough idea. As the team leader with higher privileges, I can't reveal too much information, but there is one thing that can be vaguely gleaned, and that is..."

As he spoke, his voice trembled with emotion, and he choked up: "That is, Gin's excellence is not limited to his martial prowess, but also to his astonishing wisdom, comparable to Rum's, capable of strategizing from afar. I will report this tonight when all is quiet."

"So that's how it is..." Fanze Zhenren exclaimed in amazement, seemingly puzzled.

Asagi Narumi breathed a sigh of relief, shocked by the hidden knowledge: "Since Kyogoku Makoto has spent more time with you, shall we assist in probing the next steps?"

"Of course not."

Kuromon Haruya patted him on the shoulder and shook his head with pity: "Shopkeeper, have you forgotten that you are number two?"

"Number two? What number two?"

A second suitor?!

Asano Minami: Me competing with a terrifying Saiyan, really?
