Chapter 3 - 3: Searching for Initial Supplies

3 Chapter 3:

It was a three-bedroom, two-living room house. Song Jian had just stepped out of one of the bedrooms and was now standing in its living room. After glancing around the living room which resembled an ordinary family’s, he noticed simple decorations, a cloth sofa set, a TV cabinet, a 50-inch curved LCD TV hanging on the wall, and a chandelier above him;

A closer look at the furniture in the living room revealed its valuable craftsmanship, but it was in complete disrepair. The lake surface LCD TV even had a large hole in it, and the cloth sofa had been scratched by something and was full of claw marks, revealing the stuffing inside;

All the furniture surfaces were covered in a layer of dust, suggesting that the house hadn’t been lived in for several years;

“Do you want me to search for junk in this junked-up room?” Song Jian looked around and couldn’t help but complain;

The room was so old and run-down that it seemed as if it had been robbed, or rather, abandoned for decades after the robbery. He couldn’t imagine what he could find in a place like this;

However, reality slapped Song Jian hard in the face. Just a casual pull of the drawer under the TV cabinet revealed a shimmering white object to his eyes;

Upon closer inspection, Song Jian’s face changed, and he backed away two steps, looking frightened;

“How can there be a handgun in here?” Song Jian shouted;

All around them was silence, not a single sound. Song Jian mentally activated his personal attributes, and a semi-transparent window appeared before him. Seeing the window, Song Jian finally patted his chest, his after-fear evident, and muttered: “It’s just a game, it’s just a game!”

The game was too realistic, always causing Song Jian to forget that he was in a game. When he saw the cold weapon in the drawer, his first reaction wasn’t joy, but fear;

Raised during peaceful times, experiencing firearms for the first time, children would always feel a heart-pounding horror when faced with this sort of easily life-taking plaything;

In his memory, besides the police, only those bad guys would have such toys.

Song Jian took a deep breath, tightly gripping the cold, metallic glowing handgun in the drawer and lifting it out;

“It’s so heavy!” Song Jian frowned, his first impression of the handgun. Despite its small size, he couldn’t lift it with one hand and had to use both to hold it firmly and aim it correctly;

The moment Song Jian touched the handgun, the initially floating personal attribute window suddenly disappeared, replaced by an item attribute window;

A 3D model of the handgun was exquisitely displayed in the center of the screen with empty slots on the front, top, and bottom, as well as rows of attribute descriptions on the side;

“It actually requires a strength of 5 points or more, no wonder I can’t lift it with one hand.” Song Jian thought to himself; it seems that even if players don’t meet the equipment requirements, they can still pick up items in this game. However, the actual effect of using it would only be known to god.

Beneath the item attribute description was a red system reminder;

Song Jian’s face turned ugly. His strength attribute was too lousy, making it impossible to smoothly use even a handgun. He couldn’t lift it with one hand and needed both hands to use it;

Based on the system’s suggestion, if the equipment requirements aren’t met and the strength attribute doesn’t reach 5 points, it’s likely challenging to aim and hit distant objects, as the accuracy simply cannot be guaranteed.

He opened the magazine and found five bullets. Song Jian didn’t know what they could do, but after reinserting the magazine, he placed the handgun in his inventory and continued searching for other supplies.
