Chapter 59 Returning to the Wei Residence to Plead Guilty
Chapter 59 Returning to the Wei Residence to Plead Guilty
"What would you like to eat?" Murong Qian asked Yun Juan, who was standing next to her, pointing to the pastries beside her.
Yun Juan glanced at the exquisite pastries and said softly, "I want to eat peach blossom cake."
Murong Qian smiled slightly and ordered someone to bring over the peach blossom cake.
The two silently took a bite of the peach blossom cake, and the atmosphere became somewhat awkward.
Yun Juan wondered to herself why she felt so nervous in his presence.
Perhaps it was because of his status, or perhaps it was because of her engagement to him.
Just then, Murong Qian suddenly spoke up: "Miss Yun, do you know the origin of this peach blossom cake?"
Yun Juan raised her head, looked at him, and shook her head.
Murong Qian smiled and slowly began to tell the story behind the peach blossom cake.
"This peach blossom cake is actually my mother's favorite pastry. When I was little, I often watched my mother eat one piece of peach blossom cake after another, her face beaming with a happy smile."
Sadly, my mother passed away later, and I never saw that smile of hers again.
A faint sadness flickered in Murong Qian's eyes.
Yun Juan's heart stirred; it turned out that this seemingly cold regent also had such a gentle side.
“However, every time I eat peach blossom cake, I think of my mother, as if she is still by my side.” Murong Qian sighed softly.
Yun Juan listened quietly. She could feel Murong Qian's deep longing for his mother, and at the same time, she gained a deeper understanding of the regent.
"Thank you, Your Highness, for letting me hear such a heartwarming story," Yun Juan said with a smile.
Murong Qian looked at her, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes. Although Yun Juan hadn't admitted it was for him, he didn't know why, but seeing her made him feel at ease!
"No need to be so polite." Murong Qian smiled. "It's getting late, let me take you back."
Yun Juan nodded and followed Murong Qian out of the pastry shop.
The two remained silent throughout the journey.
As they approached the Prime Minister's residence, Murong Qian finally broke the silence: "Miss Yun, I hope you will not tell anyone about what happened today."
Yun Quan understood his meaning and quickly replied, "Your Highness, rest assured, Yun Quan will not speak carelessly."
Murong Qian looked at her, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes, "Well, that's good."
After saying that, he turned and left, leaving Yun Juan standing alone in the spot, watching his departing figure, and a strange feeling arose in her heart!
Wei Wan sent a visiting card to the Grand Tutor's Mansion a long time ago. She hadn't returned to the Grand Tutor's Mansion for so many years, and she didn't know if her father blamed her or not!
She thought it must be her fault! Once upon a time, she was also the apple of her father's eye, raised with all his love, but she ran away from home because of a man and broke off all ties with her father!
Now that she's getting older, she misses going home more and more!
Her loneliness was especially intense when she saw other families reunited.
She often thinks back to her childhood days at home, when she was carefree and enjoyed the love and care of her family.
Now, how she longs to return to that warm home and feel the warmth of family love again.
The Wei family quickly replied, agreeing to let Wei Wan bring Yun Juan to their home.
This news thrilled Wei Wan; she was finally able to see her long-lost family.
She couldn't wait to start preparing gifts, carefully selecting some precious items in the hope of expressing her longing for her family.
At the same time, she also looks forward to sharing her life experiences with her family so that they can understand her growth and changes.
Wei Wan held the visiting card, her eyes filled with tears!
Surely her father wouldn't bear to blame her?
She was filled with guilt and self-blame, feeling that she had let her family down.
At the same time, she believes that given the opportunity, she will be able to make up for her past mistakes and regain her family's trust and support.
Family love is selfless. No matter what happens, Grand Tutor Wei will always stand behind her and support her. This has been the case since she was a child, and it has never changed.
The next morning, sunlight shone through the clouds, illuminating the earth.
Wei Wan, dressed in a light blue long dress that fluttered in the wind, took Yun Juan's hand and they boarded a magnificent carriage together.
The carriage was beautifully furnished, with soft cushions and pillows for comfort.
Wei Wan gently patted Yun Quan's hand and said with a smile, "We're going to visit your maternal grandfather. He'll be very happy to see you."
With a shout from the driver, the carriage slowly started moving, its wheels making a crisp sound as they rolled.
Along the way, Yun Juan curiously observed the scenery outside the car window, and the shops and pedestrians on both sides of the street made her feel novel.
The carriage passed through a bustling market, where crowds thronged and noise filled the air.
Yun Juan couldn't help but recall the small village where she had lived when she was very young. It was peaceful and serene, but compared to this place, it seemed exceptionally simple.
The carriage continued its journey, gradually moving away from the city and into a secluded mountain forest.
The road became rough and uneven, and the carriage began to bounce.
Yun Juan gripped the handrail tightly, trying to maintain her balance.
Wei Wan gently comforted her, "Don't be afraid, we'll be at your grandfather's house soon."
Finally, the carriage stopped in front of a magnificent mansion.
The mansion's gates were tightly closed, and it was surrounded by high walls, giving it a solemn feel.
The stone lions in front of the gate are lifelike and majestic.
Wei Wan helped Yun Juan out of the carriage, and the two walked together toward the gate of the mansion.
The servants at the gate saw them and immediately stepped forward to greet them, respectfully opening the gate.
The guards at the gate immediately bowed respectfully upon seeing Wei Wan.
Wei Wan led Yun Juan into the mansion, through the courtyard, and into the main hall.
In the spacious and bright main hall, an elderly man with white hair sat quietly in the main seat; he was Wei Wan's maternal grandfather.
The old man's face, weathered by time, was etched with deep and shallow wrinkles, as rough as ancient tree bark.
He was dressed in a simple yet neat long gown, giving him a dignified and kind appearance.
As Wei Wan and Yun Quan stepped into the hall, the old man raised his head, his gaze falling on them, a dark and unfathomable look flashing in his eyes.
But soon, that emotion vanished, replaced by a calm and profound gaze, as if it were all just an illusion.
Wei Wan's eyes were filled with tears, and glistening teardrops slid down her beautiful cheeks, forming tear tracks.
Her eyes were filled with sadness and despair, as if the whole world had collapsed.
Her body trembled slightly, as if she could not bear the pain in her heart.
Suddenly, she knelt down, her knees slamming heavily against the cold ground with a dull thud.
Her movements were so resolute, without the slightest hesitation, as if she had already made up her mind.
Her hands were clenched into fists, her nails digging deep into her palms, blood seeping from her fingertips, but she was completely unaware.
Wei Wan knelt on the ground with a face full of remorse and said to the person in front of her, "Father, your unfilial daughter Wei Wan has come to beg for forgiveness! Please punish me, Father!"
After saying that, she kowtowed heavily, her forehead hitting the ground with a crisp sound, as if it were an expression of her self-blame and remorse.
