Chapter 36 Did you look at my phone?
Arriving at the company, as soon as she entered the office, Lin Yunzheng felt the eager gazes of her colleagues. "Good morning, Lin Yunzheng, who was that handsome guy who picked you up last night? He looked about 180cm tall and looked super handsome in a suit!" asked her colleague Chen Yu, leaning in close, his eyes full of gossipy interest.
Lin Yunzheng smiled slightly: "He is my new husband."
Ji Xue'er next to her asked a series of questions: "Really? When did you get married? Why haven't I heard about it? What does he do for a living?"
Lin Yunzheng patiently answered each question: "We just got married. He's a surgeon and works at the First People's Hospital in the city. As for his looks, I think he's very handsome. More importantly, he treats me very well, and that's enough."
Upon hearing this, the surrounding colleagues all exclaimed in amazement, and some even clapped their hands, "Wow, a surgeon from the First People's Hospital, and a top student at that! Lin Yunzheng has a really good eye!"
"How did you two meet?" Ji Xueer asked curiously.
Lin Yunzheng chuckled softly and said, "Well, let's talk about this later."
Just when everyone was immersed in blessings and envy, Mr. Fang, a major client of the company, happened to come out of Mr. Ke’s office and happened to hear all this.
He stopped, his facial expression instantly became serious, and an indescribable solemnity appeared between his brows.
Standing in a corner of the office, Mr. Fang's eyes were fixed on Lin Yunzheng.
He observed her, trying to find the answer from every subtle movement and every look - was the smile on her face truly happy, or was it just to maintain superficial harmony?
Recalling the last meeting, he inadvertently caught a glimpse of the bruises on Lin Yunzheng's arm. The feeling of uneasiness and heartache still lingers in his heart.
Although Lin Yunzheng explained that it was an accidental collision, a flicker of doubt crossed Mr. Fang's mind at that moment. Mr. Fang thought of Huo Chenyuan's stern face and wondered if... the truth behind those scars was domestic violence.
Caught in this dilemma, Mr. Fang was overwhelmed with internal conflict. He longed, perhaps even dreamed, for Lin Yunzheng to be his partner, a gentle and considerate mother to his daughter.
He knew that with Lin Yunzheng's character and ability, she would undoubtedly bring endless warmth and joy to the family.
Subconsciously, Mr. Fang had a strong urge to break free from his restraints, walk up to Lin Yunzheng, and pour out his true thoughts.
Mr. Fang imagined what it would be like if Lin Yunzheng became his wife—her gentle smile, the warmth and harmony she would bring to their home. Especially when he thought of his own daughter, who needed a wise and kind mother, his heart was filled with endless longing.
However, Lin Yunzheng said she was already married. The cruel reality was like an insurmountable chasm, blocking all beautiful visions.
Lin Yunzheng already had her own family, and the man who protected her and brought her happiness was not herself. This fact, like an icy wind, blew away all of Mr. Fang's hopes and dreams.
Despite being weighed down by many things, Mr. Fang still managed to force a polite smile. After nodding to Lin Yunzheng, he left the office area without saying a word.
After a busy day, Lin Yunzheng quickly returned home after get off work.
Huo Chenyuan had already gotten up and was sitting at the desk in the study, holding a book in his hands. The evening sunlight shone obliquely on his profile, outlining a gentle outline.
His hair, fresh from the shower, still had a few wet drops of water on the ends, giving off a light, fresh scent. He looked exceptionally comfortable in a simple white shirt.
Hearing the door opening, Huo Chenyuan raised his head.
Lin Yunzheng changed out of his professional suit and walked into the study.
"Well, I finished work early today, so I hurried back." She walked to the desk.
"What are you reading?" Lin Yunzheng asked curiously, her eyes fixed on the cover of the book in Huo Chenyuan's hand. Huo Chenyuan handed her the book, a professional treatise on the combined use of dexketoprofen and other medications. "I've been interested in this area lately and want to learn more," he explained.
"Are you planning to go to the hospital to visit your father? If so, I'll drive you there tomorrow." Huo Chenyuan asked.
"Forget it. After all, he and I are not very familiar with each other, and his current wife is still in the hospital. She may not be happy to see me." Lin Yunzheng thought about it carefully.
"That's right." Huo Chenyuan nodded.
Then, Huo Chenyuan took out a black credit card from his pocket, handed it to Lin Yunzheng, and said with a smile: "This is for you. You can use it as you like in the future. I hope you can feel comfortable and at ease."
Lin Yunzheng took it, slightly surprised. She looked at the card in her hand carefully and found that it was a high-end credit card with Huo Chenyuan's name on the lower right corner of the card.
"This...you already gave me a lot of money last time." She was a little at a loss, looked up at Huo Chenyuan, with emotion and doubt in her eyes.
Huo Chenyuan gently held her hand and said softly, "Grandma asked me to give you the money last time. I'm the one giving you the card today."
"I also have my own income." Lin Yunzheng responded.
"I know you've always been very independent, but from now on, this card is not only financial support, but also a promise I made to you. Now that we're married, we need to accept each other, and I'm willing to share everything in life with you."
"I'll cook tonight, you can try my cooking." Huo Chenyuan stood up and walked towards the kitchen.
Then, on the desk, Huo Chenyuan's cell phone screen lit up.
Lin Yunzheng was worried that the hospital might need to contact Huo Chenyuan, so she stood up and planned to take her phone to the kitchen for him.
However, Lin Yunzheng saw that the message was a group message, the "Huo Family Group." Out of curiosity, she opened it and took a look. To her surprise, Huo Chenyuan's ex-girlfriend Ning Tingnan's name was also in the group.
"Who else do we need to invite?" asked Huo Chenyuan's brother Huo Chenjun.
The group was discussing the list of people who would distribute wedding invitations.
"Since you sent me an invitation, I will come too." Huo Chenyuan's ex-girlfriend Ning Tingnan spoke in the group.
Before, Lin Yunzheng had only heard of this person, but today she discovered that Ning Tingnan was actually in the Huo family group, but she had never known the existence of this WeChat group and naturally was not in this group.
After being married for so long, I'm not in his family group! But my ex-girlfriend is always in his family group!
Halfway to the kitchen, Lin Yunzheng was stunned and felt a sense of loss.
Huo Chenyuan looked at Lin Yunzheng holding his phone, noticed her expression, and asked, "Did you look at my phone?"
