Chapter 260 Mysterious Altar, Dark Conspiracy

Chapter 260 Mysterious Altar, Dark Conspiracy

Before Zhang Peng stood a massive black altar, constructed from strange stones that emitted a ghostly glow. Runes flickered across its surface, emanating an eerie aura. Around the altar stood twelve enormous stone pillars, each carved with a grotesque golem whose eyes gleamed red, as if monitoring everything around them.

Zhang Peng cautiously approached the altar, sensing that it held crucial clues to unraveling the mysterious force's conspiracy. The instant he neared the altar, the surrounding dark power surged violently, and the golems on the stone pillars emitted low roars, seemingly warning him not to come closer.

Zhang Peng did not back down. He activated the Chaos Spirit Technique, causing the five-colored spiritual energy and chaotic power to merge and form a powerful protective barrier around him. He walked step by step onto the altar, carefully observing the runes on it. These runes were ancient and mysterious, exuding a dark aura, unlike any runes he had encountered before.

He tried to decipher the runes using his "Insightful Eye," and as his perception deepened, his expression grew increasingly solemn. The information conveyed by the runes shocked him. It turned out that the mysterious force planned to use this altar and the "Heart of Chaos" on the night of the full moon to open a passage to the dark world, release the dark demon god sealed there, and thus rule the entire cultivation world.

"They've gone completely mad!" Zhang Peng exclaimed inwardly. He knew all too well that once the Dark Demon God was released, the entire cultivation world would be plunged into utter ruin. And the full moon was just three days away.

Zhang Peng decided to destroy the altar first to stop the mysterious force's plan. He gathered chaotic power, forming a huge ball of spiritual energy in his hand, and hurled it towards the altar. However, the moment the ball touched the altar, a powerful recoil sent him flying.

"This altar has such a powerful defense!" Zhang Peng thought to himself. He realized that a simple attack with force would not destroy the altar; he had to find its weakness.

He activated his "Insightful Eye" again, carefully observing every detail of the altar. Finally, he discovered a groove in the center of the altar, seemingly missing something. He guessed that this groove might be the key to unlocking the altar's defenses.

Zhang Peng searched around the altar for clues, hoping to find an item that matched the groove. Just then, he heard footsteps approaching from afar. He quickly concealed himself behind a stone pillar.

A group of men in black robes escorted a tall, elderly man in black robes as they approached. The old man wore a black mask, obscuring his face, but the powerful aura emanating from him indicated that he was one of the core figures of the mysterious force.

"Is everything ready?" The old man's voice was deep and hoarse, as if it came from the depths of hell.

"Reporting to the elder, everything is ready. We only need to wait for the full moon to activate the altar and release the Dark God," a man in black robes replied respectfully.

"Very well, this time we absolutely cannot let that brat surnamed Zhang ruin our plans," the old man said coldly.

Zhang Peng was startled; he knew he was being watched by a mysterious force. He held his breath and continued listening to their conversation.

“Elder, we have already set up numerous traps around the abyss. If that brat dares to come again, we will make sure he doesn’t return alive,” said another man in black robes.

"Hmph, we mustn't be careless. That kid obtained the Chaos Spirit Scripture, so his strength shouldn't be underestimated." The old man snorted coldly. "However, if he really dares to come, it will save us the trouble of looking for him."

Zhang Peng became secretly vigilant, knowing he had to find a way to break the altar's defenses as soon as possible, while also being wary of traps set by the mysterious forces. Just as he was pondering his strategy, the man in black robes had already left.

Zhang Peng emerged from behind the stone pillar and continued his search for an item that matched the groove. He searched carefully around the altar and finally found a faintly glowing black stone in a hidden corner. The stone's shape perfectly matched the groove in the center of the altar.

Zhang Peng picked up the stone, secretly guessing that it might be the key to breaking the altar's defenses. He carefully placed the stone into the groove, and as soon as it was placed in, the runes on the altar shone brightly, and the surrounding dark power began to surge wildly.
