Chapter 172 The Mysterious Secret Room: Crisis and Turning Point
The entrance to the secret chamber slowly opened, releasing an ancient and mysterious aura mixed with complex spiritual energy fluctuations, filling everyone with both curiosity and trepidation. Zhang Peng and the others temporarily set aside their fight with Pan Liwei and Cui Mingjia, their gazes all turning to the gradually revealed interior of the secret chamber.
In the dimly lit chamber, an ancient stone platform stood silently in the center, upon which rested a crystal ball emitting a soft blue light. Strange runes were inscribed around the crystal ball, shimmering faintly as if whispering ancient secrets.
"What is this?" Li Ming asked in a low voice, his eyes filled with curiosity and vigilance. He gripped his longsword slightly, ready to deal with any potential danger.
Zhang Peng frowned, a vague feeling stirring within him that the crystal ball might be connected to the ancient artifact they were searching for, its sealed location. He was about to take a step when Pan Liwei beat him to it.
"Hmph, this thing is mine!" Pan Liwei's face was filled with a greedy smile. Ignoring the potential danger, he rushed straight towards the stone platform. However, just as his hand was about to touch the crystal ball, the runes on the stone platform shone brightly, and a powerful backlash blasted him away.
"Pfft!" Pan Liwei spat out a mouthful of blood, his face filled with shock and anger: "What...what the hell is this?!"
A thought struck Zhang Peng. He realized that the runic restrictions surrounding the crystal ball were not a simple defensive mechanism and might require specific spiritual energy fluctuations to break. He closed his eyes, concentrated his mind, and mobilized the power of the Dragon Ball within his body, trying to find a spiritual energy frequency that resonated with the runes.
Seeing this, Cui Mingjia sneered, "You think you can break this restriction?" With that, he quickly formed hand seals and cast a dark spell, attempting to forcibly break the rune restriction. Dark power surged towards the stone platform like a raging tide, but the rune light flashed and swallowed up all the dark spell without causing a ripple.
Just as Cui Mingjia was in shock, Zhang Peng suddenly opened his eyes, a hint of excitement flashing in them: "I think I've found it!" He quickly mobilized his spiritual power and, according to the frequency he had just comprehended, slowly injected the power of the Dragon Ball into the rune.
As Zhang Peng infused his spiritual power, the runes flickered more intensely, and the previously stable restrictive power began to fluctuate. Pan Liwei and Cui Mingjia, seeing this, were both shocked and envious. Unwilling to be outmaneuvered by Zhang Peng, they joined forces again to launch an attack, attempting to disrupt him.
Li Ming and Lin Wan'er immediately stepped forward, blocking Pan Liwei and Cui Mingjia respectively. Li Ming unleashed his full power, his swordsmanship fierce and each strike carrying the force of a whirlwind, forcing Pan Liwei to retreat repeatedly. Lin Wan'er, on the other hand, used wood-based magic, thick vines sprouting from the ground and tightly binding Cui Mingjia.
"Zhang Peng, hurry! We can't hold on much longer!" Li Ming shouted, his face covered in sweat and his body bearing several wounds, but he still gritted his teeth and persevered.
Zhang Peng took a deep breath and increased his spiritual power output. Finally, with a crisp sound, the rune restriction was successfully broken. The crystal ball on the stone platform slowly rose, radiating a dazzling blue light.
However, before anyone could react, the crystal ball suddenly emitted a powerful suction force, pulling everything around it in. Zhang Peng and the others felt everything go black before they lost consciousness.
After an unknown amount of time, Zhang Peng slowly opened his eyes and found himself in an unfamiliar space. All around him was emptiness, with only a few faint lights flickering in the distance. He struggled to his feet and saw Li Ming and Lin Wan'er not far away, slowly waking up.
"Where is this?" Lin Wan'er rubbed her head, looking completely bewildered.
Zhang Peng looked around, his mind filled with doubt: "I don't know either. It seems the crystal ball teleported us here."
Just then, Pan Liwei and Cui Mingjia appeared not far away. They were equally shocked, clearly not expecting to be teleported to this strange place.
"This is all your doing!" Pan Liwei pointed angrily at Zhang Peng, his eyes filled with hatred.
Zhang Peng said coldly, "Now is not the time to argue. We need to find a way out."
The group temporarily set aside their grudges and began searching for a way to leave this space. They walked towards the faint lights and discovered that the light came from several ancient stone tablets floating in the air. The tablets were covered with runes and patterns, which seemed to hold clues to leaving this place.
Zhang Peng stepped forward and carefully studied the runes on the stone tablet. He discovered that these runes were different from those he had seen in the ruins before, yet they were subtly connected. He fell into deep thought, trying to connect these clues.
