Chapter 131 Exploring the Ruins: The Secret of the Seal
Chapter 131 Exploring the Ruins: The Secret of the Seal
Zhang Peng stood before the gate of the ancient ruins, his hands gently caressing the mysterious runes. The power of the four divine artifacts flowed within him, resonating strangely with the runes. As the resonance intensified, the gate slowly trembled, emitting a muffled sound, as if it were about to open.
"Everyone be careful, we don't know what might be inside," Zhang Peng whispered a warning, his eyes scanning the surroundings warily. Li Ming gripped his longsword tightly, the blade trembling slightly, ready to deal with any unexpected situation; Lin Wan'er and Su Yao stood behind him, their spiritual energy gathering at their fingertips, waiting anxiously.
With a rumble, the gates of the ruins slowly opened, releasing an ancient and mysterious aura. Behind the gates was a deep passage, its walls inlaid with faintly glowing gems that barely illuminated the path ahead. The group cautiously stepped inside, their footsteps echoing in the silent passage.
"This place feels eerie," Su Yao said softly, her voice trembling slightly.
"Don't be afraid, we're here together," Lin Wan'er comforted softly, holding Su Yao's hand.
After walking for a while, a huge stone chamber appeared at the end of the passage. In the center of the chamber stood an ancient stone platform, on which rested a crystal ball that emitted a faint glow. The crystal ball was surrounded by a ring of runes, similar to those on the gate, but more complex.
Zhang Peng stepped forward and carefully examined the crystal ball. As soon as he got close, the Five Elements Spirit Pearl, Thunder Pearl, Hourglass of Time, and Fountain of Life resonated violently once more, their power radiating outwards. The crystal ball seemed to be stimulated by this power, its light intensifying, and a phantom image emerged from within it.
In the image, an elderly man in a simple, ancient robe appears atop a towering mountain peak. Before him stands a gate radiating endless light—the Forbidden Gate. The old man rapidly forms hand seals and chants incantations. He then places three divine artifacts—the Thunder Pearl, the Hourglass of Time, and a bead resembling the Five Elements Spirit Pearl—at specific locations around the gate. Next, he takes out a bottle emitting a soft blue light, presumably the Fountain of Life, and sprinkles it upon the gate. As these actions are completed, the Forbidden Gate slowly closes, a powerful sealing force enveloping it.
The video ended abruptly, but Zhang Peng and the others were left with a profound sense of turmoil.
"So, these four divine artifacts were once used to seal the forbidden gate," Li Ming said in shock.
Zhang Peng nodded slightly, his expression grave: "It seems the mysterious organization has always wanted to gather the divine artifacts to open the forbidden gate, and our actions have disrupted their plans. But what is the connection between the power fluctuations in these ruins and the seal?"
Just as everyone was wondering, several cracks suddenly appeared on the wall of the stone chamber, and then a group of dark figures emerged from the cracks. These figures moved swiftly, like ghosts, and instantly surrounded them.
"Another mysterious organization!" Lin Wan'er exclaimed.
The leader was a thin man in black robes, his face covered by a black veil, revealing only a pair of cold eyes: "Hand over the divine artifact, or none of you will leave alive!"
Zhang Peng gripped the divine weapon tightly, his eyes resolute: "Don't even think about it! Your conspiracy will not succeed!"
The battle erupted instantly. The man in black robes launched the first attack, waving his hands and unleashing streaks of black magical light like arrows towards Zhang Peng and the others. Zhang Peng swiftly activated the power of his four divine artifacts, forming a five-colored shield that blocked all the attacks.
Li Ming brandished his longsword and charged into the enemy ranks, engaging the black-robed man in close combat. His swordsmanship was fierce, each strike accompanied by a whistling sound, forcing the black-robed man to retreat repeatedly. However, the shadowy figures were numerous and coordinated perfectly, gradually surrounding Li Ming.
Lin Wan'er and Su Yao provided magical support from behind. Lin Wan'er summoned countless vines, attempting to entangle the black-robed man's movements; Su Yao, on the other hand, used ice magic to freeze the surrounding air, slowing down the black-robed man's attack speed.
While fending off the attacks of the black-robed men, Zhang Peng tried to find their weaknesses. He discovered that although the attacks of these black-robed men were fierce, their power seemed to be limited in some way. Each attack was accompanied by the flashing of runes, as if they were drawing on the power of the ruins.
"Everyone be careful! They're using the power of the ruins! We can't let them succeed!" Zhang Peng shouted.
He concentrated his mind, guiding the power of the four divine artifacts in an attempt to sever the black-robed man's connection with the power of the ruins. Under the interference of the artifacts' power, the black-robed man's attack briefly halted. Zhang Peng seized this opportunity, unleashing his full power, transforming the fused divine artifact power into a powerful beam of light that shot towards the black-robed man.
The light struck the black-robed man, producing a deafening roar. Their formation was instantly disrupted, and their power diminished. Li Ming, Lin Wan'er, and Su Yao seized the opportunity to launch an attack, forcing the black-robed man into a retreat.
However, the men in black robes did not give up. They regrouped and launched another attack on Zhang Peng and his group. This time, their attack was even more ferocious, seemingly aiming to end the battle quickly.
Zhang Peng felt the pressure. He knew he had to find a way to break the enemy's attack as soon as possible. He concentrated, recalling the images from the video, and suddenly, a thought struck him, as if he had realized something.
