Chapter 60 My Days at UGM
Chapter 60 My Days at UGM
That night, a red shooting star streaked across the sky. It turned out to be Zola's seed that had drifted from space to Earth.
The next day, the kind-hearted girl Mariko found a seed that looked like a dandelion and thought it was the seed of some kind of flower. So she planted it in the flowerbed, hoping it would bloom into a beautiful flower. However, this seed was actually the Zola seed that had drifted down from space the night before.
Zola is actually a cosmic plant-like monster that emits unique electromagnetic waves. It was detected by UGM's radar, but because Zola is still in its seed stage, its electromagnetic wave response is very weak, making precise location impossible. UGM can only increase its search efforts and maintain vigilance.
Within days, Zola's seeds absorb nutrients from the soil and a large amount of oxygen, growing rapidly and even preying on birds to supplement their nutrition.
When Takeshi Ya visited Mariko in her flower garden, he discovered Zora's seeds and prepared to destroy them. However, at Mariko's pleading, he had to temporarily stop. He then set up surveillance cameras to keep a close watch on Zora's seeds.
UGM's monitoring revealed that Zola's seeds grew larger and larger, and instead of photosynthesizing, they absorbed large amounts of oxygen and released carbon dioxide, just like animals, causing the flowers in the nursery to wither.
Takeshi Yagami rushed to the scene and found Mariko unconscious beside the flowerbed. As he went to check on her, Zora sprayed him with a yellow, poisonous gas. Takeshi pulled Mariko away and returned fire.
In the lore, Zola absorbs the energy of a laser gun and grows to gigantic size. But this makes no sense at all! What power can a laser gun possibly have? It can't even break the skin of a monster, yet Zola can grow to gigantic size with such a small amount of energy? I think Zola has matured over the past few days, usually shrinking to confuse its prey, then spraying yellow poison gas to stun them, making it easier to hunt. When attacked, it reveals its gigantic true form.
The gigantic Zola stands 60 meters tall and weighs 3 tons. It can spew yellow poisonous gas from its flower-shaped mouth at the top. It is a plant-like animal, possessing many characteristics of plants in appearance and abilities, but is essentially still an animal.
Zola was hit by a barrage of arrows, causing him to grow to a gigantic size and begin attacking the city.
UGM dispatched a fighter squadron to attack, but it was all destroyed by Zola using vines.
Yang Guang, learning from Daigo and utilizing the unique characteristics of a dead pilot, bravely launched an attack on Zola. He then got his wish and was whipped off balance by Zola, transforming into Ultraman Geed before crashing.
Zola wasn't particularly strong, and his abilities were limited. He had no chance against Gade. Gade condensed eight parts of a light wheel in his right hand and rushed in front of Zola, slashing wildly and cutting through all the vines covering Zola's body, greatly reducing Zola's threat level!
Without the vines, Zola had no choice but to spray yellow poison gas to attack Gad.
Gade jumped to create distance and then unleashed a powerful Gade Beam, killing Zola instantly.
Gade: "Who doesn't know how to attack from a distance!"
She then used a special healing beam to revive the withered flowers in Mariko's flowerbed. Seeing Mariko's happy smile, Summer let out a soft "Ah!" and flew away.
Not long after, several ships went missing in the Pacific region.
This attracted the attention of UGM. Captain Oyama then arranged for patrols and sent fighter jets to escort transport ships entering and leaving Tokyo Bay.
A few days later, Takeshi Yano's fighter jet and the oil tanker Niseimaru were attacked. All the crew members on the Niseimaru, except the captain, escaped in lifeboats. Takeshi Yano successfully parachuted into the sea and was rescued by the crew of the Niseimaru.
Not long after returning to headquarters, Captain Yamamoto of the Nissei Maru, who had survived the ordeal, informed UGM of the truth about the attack via radio.
It turns out that everything was caused by the abandoned ghost ship, Balakshb. The ghost ship was the Queen from 15 years ago; it was an unmanned cargo ship controlled by the latest computer technology, carrying MK alloy as its cargo.
Years ago, the Empress sank after striking an iceberg while passing through the Strait of Magellan. It's possible that the impact caused the central computer to malfunction and go out of control, operating for 15 years without ceasing, submerged on the seabed and reprogrammed. Now, the programming is complete, and it continues its journey along the route set 15 years ago, heading from the Strait of Magellan towards Tokyo Bay.
During the journey, it attacked several ships and used the strong magnetic force emitted by the MK alloy to attract those ships to itself and make them part of it.
Upon learning the truth, UGM organized a rescue mission, led by Takeshi Yagami and Yang Guang. After successfully rescuing Captain Yamamoto, they dispatched a space battleship to attack the ghost ship Barakshb.
Barakshb's intelligent computer used the missiles and cannons of the battleships it had absorbed to engage the spaceship in a fierce battle and successfully shot it down.
Before Yang Guang could react, Ya De transformed into Ultraman Ace and engaged in a fierce battle with Barakshbu.
Eddie: "Hehe, I beat you to it this time. I can't really become a vice-Oscar in my own TV show!"
Ultraman Ace flew through the air at incredible speed. The Ghost Ship couldn't hit Ace; instead, Ace severely damaged the Barakshb's hull with his beam attack, and finally destroyed the Barakshb with the Sakushium Beam, easily maintaining peace once again.
The monster that appears next is Gazela, whose true form is a monster toy made by Kenichi, a boy who needs surgery in the hospital. The sources of its body parts are incredibly diverse; Gazela's mouth contains a lighter that Kenichi's father threw away. The amplifier on its chest was originally an internal component of a radio, and its hands are made of other toys and everyday items. Kenichi even made a projector for Gazela to use as a prank to scare medical staff at night.
Why would Jianyi do that?
It turns out that Jianyi needs surgery, but the success rate is only 15%, so he has developed a fear of it. Whenever surgery is scheduled, Jianyi projects images of monsters at night to create panic among the people. This way, he can postpone the surgery.
Coincidentally, the spirit of the monster wandering near Xishan Hospital possessed the Gajala model that Jianyi had placed by the sea, turning Gajala into a real monster. Startled, Jianyi attacked Gajala with a stick, but the energy of the impact was absorbed by the amplifier, causing Gajala to grow to the size of an adult.
Kenichi quickly ran away and then called UGM. Captain Oyama sent Takeshi Yato and Hiroaki Yang to investigate. The two arrived at the hospital, found Kenichi, and, led by him, went to the beach. There they really saw a monster. They drew their guns and shot, knocking the monster, Gajala, off a cliff and into the sea.
