Chapter 51: Can't Afford to Lose
Chapter 51: Can't Afford to Lose
In her past life, Lin Rusi's favorite thing was solving riddles, to the point that she solved every single riddle in the capital.
Princess Lin'an said irritably, "What, do you look down on me?"
Lin Rusi's eyes crinkled into crescent moons as she shook her head repeatedly, "How could this humble girl dare to look down on the princess?"
"Whatever competition the princess wishes to participate in, I am ready to oblige."
Princess Lin'an narrowed her eyes slightly, her gaze towards Lin Rusi now filled with a hint of inquiry.
I've seen arrogant people before, but I've never seen anyone as arrogant as Lin Rusi before.
"The worst thing for a person is to lack self-awareness."
"Let's see if you can still laugh later!"
Princess Lin'an snorted, "Let's begin."
Lin Rusi stepped forward and took down all the riddles hanging on the lanterns.
The crowd gasped in disbelief, exchanging bewildered glances.
"Lin Rusi has gone mad!"
"She actually took down all the riddles without any sense of decency."
"If she can't answer this, how embarrassing will she be?"
Laughter erupted all around, and no one believed that Lin Rusi could actually guess all the riddles.
Even the Princess of Lin'an thought that Lin Rusi was far too arrogant.
She couldn't even guarantee that she could guess all the riddles, but Lin Rusi dared to take down all the riddles in front of so many people.
Luo Lan leaned close to Princess Lin'an's ear and chuckled, "Don't worry, Princess, Lin Rusi will definitely end up shooting herself in the foot."
“Her arrogance is not protected by Prince Jinglie.”
Princess Lin'an couldn't help but chuckle, eager to see Lin Rusi make a fool of herself.
Lin Rusi took out the riddles and began to solve them one by one.
She could find the answer to each one with just a glance.
As she answered more and more questions, the crowd's expressions changed from initial skepticism to shock.
Princess Lin'an and Luo Lan could no longer maintain their polite smiles; their features turned cold, and their faces looked increasingly grim.
Everyone thought Lin Rusi would embarrass herself by solving all the riddles, but to everyone's surprise, she actually solved them all.
"All right."
After answering all the riddles, Lin Rusi smiled slightly, "Any more?"
Princess Lin'an frowned, her eyes turning bloodshot. "Heh heh, this princess still wants to compete!"
"You're just lucky."
Faced with her questioning, Lin Rusi did not get angry but smiled and said, "Once or twice is luck, but the third time is not necessarily the case."
Princess Lin'an wanted to compete in Cuju (ancient Chinese football) with Lin Rusi. Since there were only two people competing, they competed to see how to throw the Cuju ball into a basket.
Lin Rusi's aim was better than Princess Lin'an's, and she easily overwhelmed her.
As the number of competition events increased, the princess, who had initially been adorned with numerous hair ornaments, now had her hair completely bald, and nothing could be seen anymore.
The other noble ladies also had bald heads, but there were several hair ornaments as tall as a small mountain on the table.
Lin Rusi completely overwhelmed Princess Lin'an in every aspect, but Princess Lin'an was still unconvinced and wanted to continue the competition.
As a result, there were no hair accessories left, and no lucky charms to be won.
"Princess, being able to recognize one's own reality is also a kind of ability, isn't it?"
Princess Lin'an clenched her fists, glaring at Lin Rusi with a sinister look, her eyes burning with fierce anger.
Even if she didn't want to admit it, she wouldn't dare to admit it in front of everyone.
The other noble ladies dared not continue the competition, as they had no one left to lose to, and they all took their leave.
Before long, only a few people remained under the once bustling pavilion.
Princess Lin'an's face had turned as black as coal.
"Princess, I won all of these, so I should be able to take them all with me, right?"
Princess Lin'an grunted and turned to leave with a dark expression.
Lin Rusi smiled and told Wanqi and Wanxia to pack up the jewelry they had won.
"Let's get ready to go back too."
Thanks to Princess Lin'an, Lin Rusi had a wonderful time.
In my past life, I could only play so freely during festivals.
On the way back, Lin Rusi had a smile on her face the whole time, and she was in a good mood.
Suddenly, the sedan chair, which was moving, came to a complete stop.
Lin Rusi's body, propelled by inertia, suddenly fell forward.
Fortunately, she managed to grab onto something for support, preventing her from falling directly to the ground.
The coachman's voice came from ahead, "Second Miss, a sedan chair is blocking our way."
Lin Rusi lifted the curtain and looked at the sedan chair in front of her.
There was still plenty of space on both sides of the road, but the sedan chair insisted on walking in the middle of the road, turning a road that could normally accommodate two carriages into a road that could only accommodate one.
Isn't this blatant bullying?
Lin Rusi said coldly, "If they don't move aside, we won't move aside either!"
"Yes!"
The other driver was waiting for Lin Rusi to back down so they could pass.
Unexpectedly, instead of retreating, it remained blocking the roadside, refusing to budge an inch.
The coachman pointed at Lin Rusi's coachman and cursed, "Do you even know whose sedan chair you're blocking!"
"Get out of the way!"
"Are people from the capital really so unruly? Don't you even know the concept of first come, first served?"
Lin Rusi kept a straight face and continued to let the coachman and them remain in a stalemate.
They clearly did something wrong, yet they act so arrogantly. What kind of logic is that?
They dare to be so unruly even on the outskirts of the capital!
Seeing that Lin Rusi's coachman remained unmoved, the other coachman, unable to bear it any longer, jumped off his horse and began to complain to the nobleman in the sedan chair.
"Miss, they're blocking our way and won't let us pass."
"This is utterly absurd!"
“Miss, they are so arrogant and rude, they don’t respect you at all.”
"Miss, you must teach them a lesson!"
The driver's voice wasn't quiet; Lin Rusi could hear it clearly.
She twitched her lips, and before the driver could finish speaking, she raised her voice and said sarcastically, "Oh, who is this person who blocks the road and tries to accuse me of being unreasonable?"
Lin Rusi lifted the curtain and slowly stepped down from the sedan chair.
She looked at the coachman with disdain and sneered, "You keep saying that I offended your young lady, but you, this wretched servant, have offended me. How do you plan to settle this?"
The coachman frowned and glared angrily at Lin Rusi, "Where did this nobody come from, daring to disrespect our young lady like this!"
Lin Rusi frowned slightly and then burst out laughing.
"Rotten fish and shrimp?"
She raised her hand and slapped the driver hard across the face. "You're a stranger after all, daring to use such vulgar language like 'rotten fish and shrimp' in the capital."
"Didn't your master teach you manners?"
The driver was stunned; he never expected Lin Rusi to suddenly make a move.
"Since your mistress didn't teach you manners, I'll teach you properly for her sake!"
Lin Rusi slapped her again without hesitation.
The driver's face was already swollen from the beating, but he still looked defiant.
“My servants are not for such unruly people to teach a lesson.”
A clear, melodious voice came from inside the sedan chair.
