Chapter 432 Defeating Xiaoqiang
Chapter 432 Defeating Xiaoqiang
When Lin Liuyi found her young readers with the system, Mao Shuaishuai was just having a headache!
Why? It's because a new student, Xiaoqiang, transferred to our class.
Xiaoqiang was wearing a hoodie with an English logo, light-up sneakers, and even his water bottle had an electronic screen.
His unusual attire stunned his classmates.
This was the first time anyone had met such a cool classmate. Mao Shuaishuai had originally hoped to become good friends with him.
Who knew that this guy also liked Xuanxuan, and Mao Shuaishuai was unhappy.
You should know that in the Sunflower Class at kindergarten, Mao Shuaishuai likes Xuanxuan the most.
Xuanxuan has two little braids, her eyes crinkle like crescent moons when she smiles, and her voice is soft and gentle.
Every morning, Mao Shuaishuai would wait at the kindergarten gate so that he could be the first to say "Good morning" to Xuanxuan.
His way of showing affection is quite unique: he would break his favorite bear-shaped biscuit in half and give the larger half to Xuanxuan; during nap time, he would secretly cover Xuanxuan with his little blanket; in art class, he would always let Xuanxuan choose his colored crayons first.
These little thoughts were all noticed by the observant Ms. Lin.
However, ever since Xiaoqiang arrived, he has been especially enthusiastic towards Xuanxuan:
On Monday, Xiaoqiang gave her a Disney princess pencil case that lights up. When Xuanxuan opened it, Elsa on the lid sang.
On Tuesday, Xiaoqiang brought imported chocolates with foreign words printed on the wrappers that he couldn't understand. All the children in the class received some, but Xuanxuan's piece was heart-shaped.
Wednesday was the most outrageous. Xiaoqiang pulled a talking, blinking smart Barbie doll out of his backpack and shoved it into Xuanxuan's arms: "This is for you! I have a whole set at home!"
Xiao Shuai sat on a small stool in the corner, watching Xuanxuan play with her new toys with delight, his heart filled with mixed emotions.
He looked down at his schoolbag, then touched the jelly he hadn't been able to eat yesterday in his pocket, and for the first time felt the pressure of a "love rival".
Mao Shuaishuai looked at Lin Liuyi with a melancholy expression, and Lin Liuyi burst out laughing.
She never expected to hear a kindergarten child say with a worried look that they were about to break up with their boyfriend; it was quite funny.
"Sister! How could you laugh at me!" Mao Shuaishuai was angry.
"Don't laugh, don't laugh, I'll think of something for you!" Lin Liuyi quickly coaxed the child.
Mao Shuaishuai looked at her expectantly.
"How about I buy you lots of toys, even better than Xiaoqiang's?"
Mao Shuaishuai shook his head, "No, Mom said I can't ask other people for things!"
"It was a gift from your older sister!" Lin Liuyi really thought this little brat was too cute.
“That’s not mine!” Mao Shuaishuai firmly disagreed.
"Then you should send flowers. Girls all like flowers," Lin Liuyi suggested again.
"But we can't pick the flowers in the kindergarten..." Mao Shuaishuai said with a worried look on his face.
"Then fold a paper airplane? Paper airplanes can fly really far!"
"No, no, Xiaoqiang gave me a singing doll."
Suddenly, Mao Shuaishuai's eyes lit up: "I've got it! In my sister's books, it's all about proposing with a ring!"
"No, can you even afford a ring?"
"I have a way!" Mao Shuaishuai immediately ran off excitedly.
Sigh, Lin Liuyi was worried about him, wondering how he got the ring.
On the way home, Mao Shuaishuai asked his father to take a detour to the stationery store at the entrance of the community and buy a bag of colored modeling clay with his pocket money saved up for a month.
That night, a lamp was on in Mao Shuaishuai's room.
He knelt on the floor, with colorful clay spread out in front of him.
He "requisitioned" his mother's eyeshadow palette and his father's shaving foam.
The first attempt resulted in a ring that was too thick, resembling a donut; the second attempt resulted in a ring that broke in two due to being too thin; the third attempt finally succeeded, but it looked like a crooked sausage.
He was so anxious that sweat beaded on his nose when he suddenly remembered that Xuanxuan loved sparkly things.
He sneaked into his mother's dressing table, dipped a cotton swab in some gold eyeshadow, and gently applied it to the clay ring.
"Perfect!" Mao Shuaishuai held up the finished product in front of the desk lamp. The golden powder shimmered under the light, like a treasure worn by a princess in a fairy tale.
He then found a heart-shaped box that had previously held chocolates, filled it with stars and hearts with crayons, and finally solemnly placed the ring inside.
The next day, Mao Shuaishuai hid the box in his coat, his palms sweaty.
In the classroom, Xiaoqiang was showing off his remote-controlled race car, while Xuanxuan and a group of other children chattered around him.
He took a deep breath and walked up to Xuanxuan.
"Xuanxuan!" His voice was eight octaves higher than usual. "I...I have a gift for you!"
The whole class fell silent instantly.
Mao Shuaishuai's hands trembled as he pulled out the crumpled box, the crayon drawing on it slightly smudged by his sweat.
He knelt on one knee (a pose he learned from watching an idol drama last Saturday), opened the box—sunlight streamed through the window onto the gold-flecked clay ring, refracting into tiny sparkles.
"Xuanxuan, this is a 'proposal ring' I made!" Mao Shuai's face turned as red as a tomato. "When I grow up, I'm going to marry you! That way we can play together every day, and all my toys will be yours!"
A gasp erupted in the classroom.
The twin sisters hugged each other excitedly, and the chubby boy Mingming threw the building blocks into the air, even making the usually cool Xiaomi's eyes widen.
When Teacher Lin first saw Mao Shuaishuai kneeling down, she was so frightened that she rushed over immediately.
There's no other way; these are the flowers of our motherland. If even one of them gets hurt, the kindergarten can't afford to compensate for it.
When she ran over, she found that Mao Shuaishuai was proposing to her. She quickly took out her phone to record the scene, her smile stretching almost to her ears.
Xuanxuan's eyes shone like stars as she carefully took out the ring and put it on her right ring finger—it fit perfectly!
"So beautiful!" she exclaimed, holding her hand up to the sunlight. "It's even prettier than a real diamond!"
Xiao Qiang retorted indignantly, "What's so special about that! My racing car costs over two hundred yuan!"
He then reached out to snatch the ring from Xuanxuan's hand.
"No!" Xuanxuan suddenly hid the hand wearing the ring behind her back. "Xiaoshuai's is one of a kind in the whole world!"
She leaned over and gave Mao Shuai a quick kiss on the cheek. "I love Xiao Shuai the most!"
Mao Shuaishuai and Xuanxuan's "marriage agreement" became a legend in the Sunflower Class.
Every afternoon nap, Xuanxuan would put her hand, which was wearing a ring, outside the blanket; at mealtimes, Mao Shuaishuai would help Xuanxuan pick out the carrots she didn't like; when lining up after school, the two of them would always hold hands.
One weekend, the two mothers met at the kindergarten gate.
Xuanxuan's mother smiled and waved her phone: "I've watched the video Teacher Lin posted twenty times, it's so cute!"
Mao's mother couldn't help but chuckle: "This kid, he's even copied his dad's marriage proposal lines."
