Chapter 26 Picking Up People
Chapter 26 Picking Up People
It was late at night when I got back to the apartment.
Su Wan finally breathed a sigh of relief after closing the door and drawing the curtains, then slumped onto the sofa.
"That was so close... I still can't believe Chen Tianxiong is dead. Finally, I don't have to be afraid of that big bad guy anymore." Su Wan held Lin Yu's face in her hands and stared at him in a daze.
Then, as if remembering something, she suddenly covered her mouth and her shoulders began to tremble.
Lin Yu hugged her and said, "Why are you crying?"
"I...I am..." Su Wan sobbed, "Although Chen Tianxiong is dead...but Xiaoya, she..."
Lin Yu patted Su Wan on the back, and only spoke after Su Wan calmed down:
"Xiaoya isn't dead. Go take a shower, change your clothes, and rest for a bit. I'll take you to see Xiaoya later."
I rescued her a month ago and hid her somewhere.
Su Wan looked up, her eyes red: "Really?"
"Have I ever lied to you?" Lin Yu smiled slightly.
Su Wan stared at Lin Yu for a few seconds, then leaned over and kissed him on the lips:
"Thank you, Lin Yu, you always surprise me."
Okay, I'll go take a shower now and make sure I'm clean before I see Xiaoya.
As she spoke, Su Wan got up and ran towards the bathroom.
The bathroom door was slightly ajar by Su Wan, and her blurry figure was reflected in the frosted glass, followed by the sound of running water.
Lin Yu followed him to the door, and the sound of water inside stopped as soon as he touched the doorknob.
"Why did you follow me in?" Su Wan's voice came through the door, carrying a misty, damp feeling and a hint of obvious coquettishness.
Lin Yu didn't answer, but pushed open the door and went inside.
......
One hour later—
The steam in the bathroom hadn't completely dissipated, and the room was filled with a warm, humid atmosphere.
Su Wan curled up in Lin Yu's arms, her cheek pressed against his chest, her breathing gradually calming down.
Her fingers unconsciously traced circles on Lin Yu's arm, the skin where they touched felt slightly hot.
"What time is it?" Su Wan's voice was still a little hoarse.
Lin Yu glanced at the clock: "Twelve o'clock."
Su Wan hummed in agreement and snuggled closer to Lin Yu.
A few minutes later, she slowly got up, barefoot on the floor, and bent down to pick up her scattered clothes.
"Honey, it's time to pick up Xiaoya," she said.
Lin Yu sat up and looked at Su Wan's back.
Su Wan dressed slowly, with a hint of post-coital languor, but she had almost fully recovered.
She buttoned up the last button, glanced back at Lin Yu, and said, "Honey, I'm going to wash my face first."
As she spoke, Su Wan went into the bathroom. When she came out again, her hair had been tied up again and she had touched up her makeup.
She looked more energetic, but the tension in her eyes was still there.
"Let's go." Su Wan picked up her coat, already eager to see Su Xiaoya.
Lin Yu nodded, and then the two of them went downstairs together.
......
On the way to the west of the city, Su Wan kept looking out the window, her fingers nervously twisting the hem of her clothes.
"How has Xiaoya been lately?" Su Wan suddenly asked.
"Not good." Lin Yu said truthfully:
"Chen Tianxiong captured her to sacrifice her. I rescued her before he could do it, but she has been hiding in that place and is afraid to go out."
Su Wan pursed her lips slightly, and asked with a hint of self-reproach, "Was she hurt?"
"Physically, I'm fine. As for mentally... it's hard to say, but I feel like there shouldn't be any problems."
Su Wan fell silent, staring at the dilapidated buildings outside the window, her eyes growing increasingly dark.
"It's my fault for not protecting her," she said softly.
Lin Yu patted Su Wan's head: "It's all over now. At least Xiaoya is still alive, isn't she?"
"Yes, thank you, Lin Yu..." Su Wan's gaze was gentle as she stared intently at Lin Yu's profile as he drove.
A few seconds later, she gasped, "Darling, I...I don't know how to thank you, really."
Su Wan paused, her gaze gliding over Lin Yu's hands gripping the steering wheel before returning to his face. She licked her slightly dry lips.
What followed was spoken almost without thinking, purely driven by burning emotions:
"You...you're driving, let me relax you, okay?"
These words were so abrupt and inappropriate that Su Wan herself seemed to be stunned for a moment after saying them, and a blush quickly rose on her cheeks.
But his eyes didn't dodge; instead, he stared straight at Lin Yu.
Lin Yu was clearly taken aback by Su Wan's sudden remark. His fingers, gripping the steering wheel, paused for a moment, and he raised an eyebrow as he glanced at her.
But before Lin Yu could say anything—
Su Wan has already taken action.
Lin Yu reached out and patted Su Wan's head, saying calmly:
"It'll be there in about ten minutes, so keep track of the time."
"...Understood~"
