Chapter 51 Building the Gate
Chapter 51 Building the Gate
After a morning of hard work, the wall around the cave entrance was finally basically completed; only a gate was needed to completely seal it off.
"Ruan Ruan, what exactly is this door you're talking about?" Sen asked, shaking his huge snake head with a face full of doubt.
He still has about eight days until he can transform into human form, but once he successfully transforms, he will be able to advance to the next level.
"The door is like a switch for a place, allowing you to freely enter and exit the cave. Imagine, in winter, if there were no door, wouldn't we be trapped inside the cave and unable to get out? If we blocked the entire entrance with logs, we really wouldn't be able to get out!" Ruan Ruan patiently explained.
After hearing this, Sen nodded in sudden understanding.
That's true. This door is a really good thing; we have to find a way to install it.
At this point, a narrow gap remained in the cave, which was just the right size to use the logs to make a door and cut out a chimney in the door.
Among this group of little orcs, there was a pangolin orc named Tu. He looked clumsy, but in reality, he seemed to have some unusual talent in construction.
This morning, he was in charge of the construction of the wall, and he did an excellent job.
When Ruan Mianmian learned of this, she immediately called Tu over and told him that they would make the gate together.
Ruan Mianmian explained her initial ideas about the gate to Tu in detail, and Tu immediately understood the principle behind them.
However, when it came to how to bind logs together to make a door, everyone was stumped.
At this time, Mori and Yu had already gone out hunting, because winter was approaching and they needed to store more food.
All the experienced adult orcs were gone, and now only a group of young orcs were sitting together discussing the issue.
"Can we use spider silk?" a small voice came, sounding particularly loud in the empty cave.
"Spider silk?" Ruan Mianmian asked in confusion.
"Oh, right, we can use spider silk." Tu clapped his hands happily and quickly explained the spider silk to Ruan Mianmian.
"In the valley, there lives a black spider that feeds on insects or worms and has lived peacefully with us in this valley."
"The silk spun by this black spider is very strong and can withstand a lot of weight. We can use it to fix and connect logs to make a more sturdy door," Tu Yue said, becoming more and more excited.
The other little orcs agreed, and so they decided to go together to find the silk of this black spider.
The little beastmen cautiously entered the valley, searching everywhere for traces of the black spider.
Finally, they found a black spider on a big tree. Tu slowly approached it, trying to catch the huge black spider, but the spider was too cunning. It kept spinning silk and trying to climb up the treetop.
Soon, there were many spider webs on the ground. Ruan Mianmian went up and pulled on them hard. You have to admit, they were really sturdy.
With a wave of her small hand, she collected all the spider silk on the ground into her storage space. The little beastmen were amazed by this sight.
They ran through the valley all afternoon; Ruan Mianmian hadn't been able to move around so freely in a long time. Surrounded by little beastmen, she felt exceptionally safe.
They returned to the cave with the black spider's silk, and then used the silk to tightly bind the logs together. Through everyone's joint efforts, a sturdy door was finally completed.
The little beastmen danced with excitement, their faces beaming with bright smiles. They were incredibly proud of the fruits of their hard work.
Looking at the vibrant scene before her, Ruan Mianmian felt a surge of joy and emotion.
She witnessed the little orcs grow from nothing to something; now they have not only learned to cooperate and divide tasks, but also shown amazing creativity.
Now, all that remains is for Yu and Sen to return and install the completed gate, at which point this great project will be successfully completed.
Suddenly, Ruan Mianmian thought of a crucial issue: there was still one last important step in installing the gate.
She recalled the doors she had seen before; they were all doors that could be opened and closed.
So she decided to carve a hole on each side of the gate, and then insert the long round wooden piece from the side of the gate into them. In this way, the gate could rotate flexibly and open and close.
Without further ado, Tu volunteered to take on the task of digging the hole.
He quickly transformed back into his original form and used his sharp claws to rapidly dig a large hole in the huge log.
However, the hole above could not be formed by the earth due to its higher elevation.
No problem, as long as Mori returns, this problem can be easily solved by using his tall stature.
Overall, everything is progressing smoothly, and we look forward to the perfect presentation of the final product.
